Funny how it stays cool out there isn't it. And I thought the four inch wide tie knot look was smokin.

The four inch knot is a ploy, it's to give you something to focus on during groundschool. I mean if you look directly at Bob you might get mesmerized and all future thoughts could be of TERPS or the OPS Manual. You know, don't look directly into the eye of the fire. Of course looking not at the person sharing the vast wealth of knowledge on which exact regulations are on each page in the FAR/AIM is definately an act of blasphamy and something that would get you sent to the Chief's office for. Plus when he leaves BUR it acts as a scarf to keep wind chill out in the drafty 'Ho's.
