Looks like the beginning of the end at PSA...

From Management:

As you are all painfully aware, fuel prices continue to rise; causing the airline industry to reduce capacity which in turn curtails hiring and expansion plans. This, coupled with the age 65 rule, has lowered the demand for pilots within the industry.
US Airways and PSA are not immune to these influences. In response to the industry trends US Airways has greatly reduced their hiring plans for the remainder of the year and PSA has canceled a number of planned upgrade and new hire classes.
As we slow the pace of training, we find that is it possible to offer personal leaves of absence starting in the month of June for both Captains and First Officers. These leaves will be for full months, partial months, and personal unpaid days (PUD); awarded based on daily staffing consideration.

Rumor has it that if the UAL/USair merger goes down this week and UAL becomes the brand, US Airways will be forced to sell the WOs as part of the deal. If that's the case I give PSA 12-18 months.

Hmm, I guess we at Piedmont will hear something soon too then.

You guys properly staffed? They aren't parking any planes right now are they?

Well PSA is pretty fat with FO's. A few months back I was talking with a guy who had been online for almost half a year that had way under 200 hrs in the jet...

I think I have finally decided to go to Omni! Anyone of my PSA brothers wants to go with me send me a pm! God Speed to all WO pilots!!!

No more airplanes parked for staffing issues.

I think we're still sending one to paint and one to CKB for C-check.

Beginning of the end? Heck, this happens every 2 years around here. KH or TK has a knee jerk reaction and will cut way to deep and screw the airline into the ground.

It will take 3 months of us being the joke of US Airways and everything will be normal again.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!

LOAs are a pretty standard event around here. Over half our pilot group has less then 1 year on property so I guess it may be scary for a bunch of them though.

T.K. and K.H....ohhhhh my...still at it are they?

they just put out a letter saying that pdt is hiring 15 fo's a month for the rest of '08. i don't think anyone in the us airways group knows what the hell they're doing.

PSA needs a 10th life and this time they wont get it.....12-18 months sounds about right. I just hope those suckers dont eat 90 seat rates fearing for their jobs like they have done before in the past.

As for a buyer looking to buy the the WO's.....Piedmont has the best chance of surviving if you look purely at economics (DASH 8 vs. CRJ200). The 50 seat jet market was over before PSA took delivery of their first 200, the airplane just doesn't make money; spin it anyway you want the aircraft is a financial loss before the FO even does the walk around. As for their 700's, they'd look great in the Skywest paint scheme, and I am sure thats where they'll end up.

Yes the sky is falling....its been falling at PSA since 2000, but this time I think the music is about to stop. I'd be very concerned if I was flying for them. There are no more Champagne bottles to open....this one is gonna be interesting. Good luck Bluestreakin Bottom Feeders.......you screwed the regionals with your back door negotiations and off the wall combined seniority list/single pay rate crap!!! Want to see disfunction, just ask a PSA pilot how they decided upon 700 rates....if the guy even knows what you are talking about he was probably involved in the scam.

Hope you're single, like being away from home, like being out of the country on your days off, like traveling the world, and have a great international cell phone plan. If so, Omni's the place for you.

PSA did damage to the industry.....now I'm gonna go beat my dog and maybe scream at my rich Houston bitch wife. I'm angry.....those PSA pigs made me angry........LOL......

Too Funny.....

I'm glad you'll never forget me........and who are you again???? did PSA fire you or something? I'll knit you a going away shirt
