PSA info

Hey all,

looking for info on PSA. QOL? Reserve time? I know bases are CLT, DAY, TYS. Whats the jr base? Odds of getting CLT as a base? How you like it there? The usual stuff...

Interviewed there back in June. DAY and TYS are junior however they said "within a few months" you can hold what ever base you want, which seems on par with what some of my friends there say. They mentioned reserve is 9 months, not sure if thats accurate at all.

Interview went well. I studied the gouges, aerodynamics and weather sections of the ATP written and had no trouble. I deferred a class date until I find out whats going to happen at my current airline. Do you have an interview?

I am currently employed flying a C-525A for a private family. I'm very happy and treated with respect. As for PSA I am sure it's similar to other regionals. You are questioned about everything you do. Treated as if you're a high schooler and basically not shown any professionalism at all. Just my 2 cents.

Beautiful. But I was hoping for firsthand info. Ive flown charter for 17 years and WAS treated well too. Just hope your ride doesnt leave you someday too.

I am employed by PSA and I will tell you first hand if you want to commute, reserve at PSA will make this very difficult. Also PSA is a micro-mgmt meca, keep your eyes open for other options.

I am also looking for info. I have a lot of time and was trying to wait it out where I am at (pinnacle). However our ship is sinking pretty fast. I live in TYS and it sounds like I could get it shortly out of class.
This would be my fourth jump if I did. But I can explain all.
so question 1- what would my QOL be like in base at TYS? I hate commuting!
With the windows opening up soon at the majors what would you do in my shoes? I have 8000+ hours with some Pic (1400) from another aiine. I am an fo who will lose my job at some point. Just a matter of when! It could be a year or more but then we might close the doors this year. I am not at the bottom but around 30% on the fo side. I've been furloughed four times and don't want to go down with the ship but don't want to make a bad choice and jump ship too early either. So the million dollar question is... can I hang on here until.... or should I go? What would you do in my shoes?

Don't think it is wise to come to PSA right now. Our contract is now over 3 years past amendment date. Management has told us to take a pay cut to match lower cost airlines. If we don't then they will consider transferring our airplanes to their certificate. Plus the rumor is that our 401k is in jeopardy. With the worst reserve rules in the industry, PSA should not be your first choice. Nor your second. If we strike an you on on 1st year pay you will most likely get fired. The advantage of being a wholly owned is nothing. Don't buy into their lies.

Thanks Ex. We are going through the same things over here at Pinnacle. I am like everyone else looking for the greener grass. I kown its not very green anywhere now days.
I am just looking at options in case we become Comair #2 and close the doors. The only plus for me there would be to finally not commute.

Its not all doom and gloom here. Paddlehigh and Ex j-41 tried to steer me away from this place six years ago but it turned out to be a great move for me. The key to survival at PSA is to live in base. Commuting on reserve will take years off your life. It had to do it for a while living in CLT commuting to TYS in order to hold the left seat. Anyway, in my six years nothing has really changed at this place. Considering what the rest of the industry had to deal with, that might not be such a bad thing. If you think your job is in jeopardy over at 9E than jumping ship to PSA might be a good option. It is a lot easier to get another flying job if you are current vs. furloughed. Since you already have PIC time then just stay until you get the call from Delta, USAir, Pan Am, etc... We might not be the best regional out there but it beats the hell out of working.

Thanks for the help. Like so many people, I am just looking to see what options I have. I have already made a lateral move once so don"t really want to go that route again if I can help it. But don't want to be furloughed either. Been there and done that four times. Alot will depend on may things. One is how the vote goes for us and what happens when we all vote no. Also I was able to get my stuff in for this USAirways window. So I hope to just hang on here, but we'll see what the future holds.

Interviewed there last week and all went well. They say they have no idea how the merger will play out with PSA and didnt care to elaborate into the question at all. Actually, it seemed they were trying to avoid it.
I found it hard to believe, but they told us that upgrade time is somewhere between 2-3 years. Really?
I ran into a couple FO's outside terminal and got to talk with them. They were low-time, but sounded like they absolutely hated it there. 1 of them was on reserve and had been w company 8 months so far. Didnt paint a rosy picture.
