JetJockey,

Since you asked... I've been here 5 years. I was displaced from CAK to DAY and only in the last few months have held a line (now in TYS - incidentally the only base where I can hold a line). I've never had to fly with a J4J and I know that you are all decent guys like most of the PSA guys. But the fact remains: Many of you (not you personally, as I don't know your circumstances) flew at a regional for a few years, maybe upgraded or not, got the big call at U, got furloughed less than two years later, and now have a job which was handed to you, a captain seat, and my hard line.

So I really don't want to hear about your scope, which you did not fight and sacrifice to get. And by "you" I mean the J4Js alluded to above.

Dork,

quick question......who agreed for the jets to come here?? Were the jets forced upon you? Why isn't PDT/ALG flying any jets? (I ask this as I don't know the whole story behind that one, just bits and pieces.) You allude that we did not sacrifice for the scope. Well we didn't sacrifice FOR the scope...but I guess you could look at it as we sacrificed with the letting go of the scope, which in turn "kept" US doors open, which in turn kept the WO's flying, which in turn has kept the WO pilots employed. yes there is a possibility PSA could have or might be spun off, but I truely don't think that's in the best interest of anyone here, for the time being.
I agree there are a few that fit your situation you have alluded to (less than 2 yrs, a few at a regional) and I guess it was timing for them, and I'm sure a few of them have the "new" capt. problem. Just as a few here have had good timing etc....again...every group has it's 10%.

As for saying it's your capt. seat and your hard line. where would you be with 25 dorks flying around??? or 25 jets? Or better yet, were the dorks planning on staying here??? I think the rumor was no. So maybe PSA would have gone the way of ALG. Who knows, and who cares....the fact of the matter is .....it is what it is....... I'm half happy I at least have an income coming in and still under the US group in some form. I'm disgruntled at the mainline MEC, for a number of reasons past and present. I'm sickened by the attitudes I run into of people that have less than a year to 5 years within the industry. I'm sickened by the attitude of some of those that have 20 years in it. Trust me, your seat and hard line will come, as more and more j4j's are leaving, you have kept track of that haven't you? Talked to 2 more that are supposed to be gone in Aug....guess we had one unvoluntarily leave a few weeks ago, another went to SWA at the beginning of this month..etc etc......so soon I'm sure the majority of us will be gone....and you will get that seat and hard line...albiet maybe 2 years late. Though if the dork had stayed, with no change, it might be the same time line.
Now wouldnt you agree there are bigger issues that should or could be taken care of here?? No one really wants to make a regional a career, but some do, by choice or otherwise. So why not try and improve conditions as much as possible here for those that come behind you??? instead of b***** about something in the past you no longer have control of?

I have no problem voicing my concerns to you. It's no secret who I am. Next time, come on over and we will have this little discusson.

Look forward to it.

Later,
Box

Well as soon as I find out...I'll be glad to.

CRzipilotWhy do you insist on claiming U saved PSA with the jets. What would have happened to U if J4J was not fromed and the jets never came? It's a double edged sword. Unfair, yes! Show compassion to the FO's at PSA who can't upgrade and the captains who are stuck on reserve. There is no way you can say someone at U for 2 years or even 10 years is eligable to hold a line or seat above a PSA pilot with same or greater senority at group. You made the choice to move to a mainline. We never had a flow through U turned us down.

J4J program is like buying car insurance after you crash and then demanding you are covered.

Agree to disagree, this topic is to emotional for all sides involved.

Slummin....

I think if you look at what my opionion has been, it's historically been BOTH sides have gotten screwed out of this deal. I really have no way of knowing if PSA would be around without the jets, just as you have no way of knowing what would have happened to Mainline w/o the J4J agreement.
As for saying that no one with 2 or 10 years at mainline should hold a seat above someone at PSA with the same seniority......Well there's an arguement on both sides of that one too. Again nobody slammed J4J into PSA did they??? Who agreed to those terms? In order for the scope to be walked over, and the SJ's to fly the -9/f100/737 trips, AAA alpa said, fine...but this is what we want....
Yes, I made the choice, and wouldn't have, given my circumstances, along with the growth they were going through. Just like guys are making the choice to goto Jetblue and SWA etc.....it just so happened at the time US was hiring I fit the qualifications they were looking for. U was hiring through 2000 and hired about 2000 pilots. How many pilots on the PSA sen. list are there that met the requirements for U hiring AND were there prior to 2000? As to a flow through, and U turning it down, again this is a subject I've heard bits and pieces of, but why was it turned down? I know there was one being negotiated and trying to be agreed upon, but recollection was, there were some demands mainline didn't agree with and so it got scuttled....Again I don't know the whole story.

Like your car insurance statement.....another question, Why is it all the agreements must start with a flow up???? Why not start with the flow down...and you in return get to flow up? As I would imagine the hiring requirements at CO....AMR...UAL...NWA...US etc were a little more stringent than they are at the regionals???
Again, I say, look at my past arguements and such, and you will see I agree to disagree, I can also see the view point of the other side too. And as JetJockey has said....well we continually get this crap thrown in our face........and yet at the same time...how many of us had the chance to vote, or have ANY say in what this program was or how it was structured???? I know I didn't......did the PSA pilots???

Amazing

I Thinks Its Great That A Chief Pilot Is Out Here Chatting With The Troops. Im At Tradewinds 3300 Ttl 900 Jet China Based Money Ok Not Complaining But Would Like To Fly Domestic Again Days In A New Jet. Being A Freight Dog Already Flying Jets Would I Be Considered For A Position With Psa. I Think Psa In The Long Run Will Be A Winner With All This Merger News And I Would Like To Be A Part Of It
Thanks And Awaiting Response From Psa Boss And The Troops
Thanks

Just be careful not to call off sick more than 7 times if you wish to stay employed. On a side note if you wish to trip trade, drop, or swap days around in order to have a life outside of the 17hr 4 day trips, you should make yourself familiar with the following.............................."Request Denied"!

I got a message today for an upcoming interview. Where are the new hires going? (used to live in Charlotte, would love to move back) I think I read reserve is now running around 6 months, is that accurate? Will PSA fly you to Charlotte on their dime for the interview? The website says 2 weeks in Montreal for sim training, is this still true? How many days off on reserve? What about travel benefits for me, wife, and family?

Thanks

CLT based for most as quick as 3 months, Possibility of DAY, or TYS but with PHL closing, ther are contious movement around of guys trying different bases.

6 months for reserve but if you go to DAY maybe less (some sat none)!

No, PSA sells you a full fare ticket, Non refundable, Saturday stay require...Makes you pay for your own hotel in training, Does not pay you Per Diem in training and pays you a Salary of $200 dollars every two weeks......
.........................................................................................................
...Just kidding, that was a different place. Our Dime, for other training perks see PFT- rtfq post! ( Yes, we have a sense of humor as well, I got a FO pay check once on a far worst contract, Made 6 hundred per month at Job before I got here 10 years ago. That I was living Large. LOL)

Sim training is currently in CLT but subject to be elsewhere depending on Sim avalibility. 99% to be CLT for New Hires.

10 days off minimum on Reserve, Although I do have guys working days off for Extra Pay on top of Guarantee. ( Under current Side Letter > 4 hours per day times 1.5 (6 hours Mininmum) on Scheduled day off all paid above Guarantee of 72 for Reserve or 75 for Block holders)

Spouse, Domestic Partner, or Designated Travel companion (latter two are charged applicable Tax rate required by Fed Law) and Dependent children as well as Your Parents travel free, Space Available Domestically and Applicable Departure Taxes for Int'l.

Hope that answers all your Q's!
Good Luck,

How I love these debates behind scrn names. It's funny, as I have YET to have one individual in a crew room or otherwise, say to my face they wish the J4J's weren't there, or shouldn't be there or are ***holes etc.

Sooooo what is your real name then if you are not hiding behind the screen name? Tell us who you are so everyone can make a special visit to tell you how much of a tool you are. You are pissed you are now in a regional jet instead of that sweet DC-8 you used to probably ride panel on. What a crushing blow to the ole' ego! Get a life loser.

Yes it does, thank you very much. One more question for you, are the travel benefits just on PSA, or on USAIR as well.

REO,

Send me a PM with your and you shall receive. Anyways, ya I flew panel on the 8....about a year. Also served as f/o on it for about 6or 7 yrs. Also flew the 727....for a few... Pissed about flying an RJ..naaa...actually having fun with it....enjoying the guys I'm flying with etc etc...... so anyways...back to the thread again....

PSA CP what's the target of hiring/month????

the Non-rev benefits, are the same as those with Mainline. I.E. also eligible for the ZED fares and ID90's etc etc. Which I would imagine with the merger date slated at Oct. 1st. now....would think that shortly there after the US/AWA travel bennies would be combined.

Hiring!

"PSA CP what's the target of hiring/month????"

For now, it's 10 new hires everyother week!
I expect this to increase, but do not read into this, No reason why!
PSACPSP

Not reading into it but.....................

If PSA is hiring 20 a month and their is no growth since bankruptcy, where are 20 pilots a month going? I am sure a few might be upgrades, but it sounds like a lot of unhappy F/O's.

Oh come now. It's gotta be something :) Either A. Attrition B. Upgrades C. Planned possible expansion, w/o getting caught like last year. :)
I know a few more j4j's have put in or are about to. Along with a few more capts/fo's moving to other oppurtunities.. So combination of both, besides, I don't really run across anyone that is "unhappy" with being here. Always the 10%, but for the most part.
Besides isn't the hiring to cover the 50 new 900's coming???

900's??? 90 seat airplanes at a commuter???

This is sad. What IS an RJ? Apparently any airframe with payscales significantly lower they were 10 years ago for a similar seating capacity.

True, but simmer down Rabble, it was a joke. Though with last round of scope concessions at Mainline.....the 90 seaters are available to goto the WO's or affiliate carrier now. Figure it's just a matter of time outside of BK that one of us will see it. either PSA or REP with 190's...

Vote For Pedro!

Did you see Napoleon Dynamite...Go to the Thrift store and buy a Powder Blue Tuxedo...10 bucks, I believe! If you show up wearing it, You'll definitely make it to Phase two...We do things a little different at PSA, Life's to short to be any other way. I use to hate these things, being on the otherside of the table.

Borrow one, I could care less, Go rent one at the Tuxedo store....Just make sure you where a jacket and a tie, Going without didn't go so well for someone in the past. And if HR can't take the joke, oh well. (I wouldn't try this anywhere else.)
Good Luck,
PSACPSP

Things are all set up for an interview, I'll be in Charlotte next week. I'll be the guy in the plaid blue polyester leisure suit and heinous paisley tie. The sad thing is I have that outfit from a costume party last year. Too bad I can't dance like Napoleon Dynamite did in the movie...

I'll have to leave the polyester at home, it doesn't breathe well and I don't want to stink out my interviewers!
