Reserve is much longer for Captains, once they upgrade!

No Shat....Three years and counting. Oh well....Could be worse, I could be a Chief Pilot.

I live near Dayton, are the lines still comparable to CLT? I do have am application in I am just waiting for a call.

If you're out for four nights in a row it's either because you volunteered (maybe you commute and don't want to pay for the hotel in base) or you did not challenge scheduling on violating the contract.

I may be wrong, but just looked in the Hours of Service section and scheduling section.
3. A pilot will not be scheduled for more than five (5) consecutive days of duty except that a pilot may be scheduled for six (6) consecutive days of duty in schedules involving the blend, holidays, or training.
4. Trips may contain up to four (4) sections, except that trips encompassing holidays may contain up to five (5) sections.

Beside that I couldn't find anything which prevents scheduling from jumping a reserve around from trip to trip. You may start a 3 day trip to be split onto another 3 day trip, with them DH you home on the 5th day.
So it does look like they can keep you out 4 nights in a row, but duty wise your not scheduled for more than 5 days at a time. Which would put you home on the 5th day. Of course from there you can volunteer as your needs fit. But if there's something you can show me that prevents them from putting you on the road from Mon morning till Fri. night midnight. I'd be more than happy to have it :)

Thanks 328 Dude

Maybe I should find you a trip so you have something else to do. Where is that number to the scheduling "bat" phone! Did you read my post about "Musical" Chairs??? I sat 6 days of reserve when I upgraded, Of course I waited 6 months after I could hold it before I did because of Commuting and quality of life issues. That was 4 years after I got here. There were guys in my upgrade class that had only been here for 8 months. Just luck of the draw (or hire date!). I had a guy, no longer here, raising cane in a Recurrent class when I was a Captain. He was going on about his quality of life and how he'd been on reserve for 2 years and how his life sucked. I turned around and told him it was his own fault! He had this dumfounded look on his face, I said "no one made you upgrade, You bid it!" he had nothing else to say. TK was present and was probably shocked that I said it as well, He probably got a little twinkle in his eye and knew one day I'd be in management. LOL. It had nothing to do with me being on Management's side or the pilot's side at the time...I just did not want to hear his whining, and neither did anyone else.

By the way, If you want it, You can have it...My job that is!

Classes are every other week, Class sizes vary from 6 to 8 but we'll probably increase to 10 soon, If offered the early class, Remember, Seniority is everything.

Next class is July 12, May be full though, Next is July 26 and their are still openings there!

Good Luck!

SP is right!!! Seniority is EVERYTHING!!!!! I took a class one week later than I was available instead of going for it right away and wound up being #4 to get furloughed! Could have avoided that and still regret the decision. Lesson learned....don't repeat my mistake!!!! get in the minute you can..fwiw

Of course I was right....Same thing happened to me when I got here, 2nd most Junior in my class, One class behind us, then Furloughs...I was 5 from the bottom....J-31's went away...I got 45 days off w/ Pay...It was great...two classes later and I would 've been furloughed, it's all luck!!!

Anyone see the pattern in the Biz....Anyone read the "Musical Chairs" thing??
Thanks 38 Tango...........Glad you're here!

Go ahead and apply to us. I've been here just about 1 year (finally off probabtion soon) and I love it. I've learned so much about my career and about myself and am having the time of my life. I really believe in the recovery of group and I think PSA might be a very good regional to be at.

I'm not whining that I upgraded 3 years ago S. I'm bitching cause I wouldn't be if they awarded CLT right. But that's a whole diffrent thread.

Thanks for the offer, but no thanks. Beside's, I already lost $20 bucks on your tenure, and I got $40 in right now for the new one. The longer you stay in, the better my chances.

im trying to find a lil more info on PSA, i hear from some of my chq buddies that it wouldnt be to bad of a place to work at... I went to the website, and it doesnt show a whole lot, no route maps, crew bases, number and kind of a/c... maybe i didnt look all that well, but the website seems kinda of sparse in comparison to others, or maybe just CHQ's website is great.

if this is the CP that is replying that is pretty cool that he reads these, replies, and cares that much.

i like to do some research before applying for many reasons plus i would probably commute from chicago or omaha...so where to go to look for this info? thanks

sorry, should have checked all my resources like i usually do but if the info on airline pilot central is correct... "Bluestreak" has 53- CRJ 200 and 700's... have about 560 pilots, in ALPA, Domiciles: CLT, DAY, PHL, TYS, so only thing i am lacking is a route map.

Mo Info!

Actually slight typo there...49 A/C - 35 200's and 14 701's

PHL's Closing as of Sept. 1. Making way for our Air Whisky friends, I do not know anyone at Air Whiskey but if they want PHL, I'll call them "Friends!"

No route map per say, Asked the Q's often in Interviews, We are scheduled by US Airways and it changes often, As of June, the Legs go as far as CLT- DFW, Clt-MSP, CLT - STL, CLT-MCI, CLT- TLH, CLT-SRQ, DCA- FLL, FLL-EYW, PHL-BGR, PHL-YOW, CLT-PWM, CLT-GGT(Georgetown, Great Exuma, Bahamas) ETc. If you have flown it in the CHQ system for US Airways, more than likely we have flown it, or will fly it! A little History for you...PSA actually had the Indy base and CHQ had the PIT base then around late 1994, The big Switcher roo and pretty much overnite, they were reversed. I still have senior guys living in Indy commuting.

You can find more Info posted here if you search PSA!

Yes, I am who I say I am.

Good Luck,

PSA WEBsite!

Yes, the website's not so great, IT department is Tiny, Do not update that often and Probably better for us they do not use a whole lotta space, I believe the Server is pretty small!
PSACPSP

This is my opinion only, but I think that with MESA leaving the US Airways side of things that and leaving some significant service gaps in CLT doing so that you will see a pretty heavy reduction in the number of airplanes that are based in DAY. Again, this is my opinion only.

Is PSA totally out of PIT?

Does anyone know what the competitive mins. are? The website said something like 1000TT/200ME but I was looking at some interview experiences and there were guys with like 700-800TT and 100+ME. They wrote that their resumes were not walked in by someone. Also, would commuting from Florida even be a possibility as a new hire? (off reserve of course). I'm interested in PSA but can't move right now unfortunatley. Thanks

Plunger,

If I was on the hiring board I'd hire you for your kick a$$ Judas Priest avatar. We need more guys with a sense of humor at PSA. Lately we've been hiring dorks. I think the competitive mins are you have to be a mentally unstable 35-45 year old that has been kicked around by the industry and kicked out by his wife.

Commuting out of FLA could be tough with all the mainline folks down there... Where would you commute from?

Commuting from Florida can be tough for the 15 year senior guy, It's very difficult!
I don't care if you commute as long as you are at work when you are scheduled to work! I have one pilot that says he "commutes" from Madrid, Spain....But he goes back and forth everyother month for a few days...In the good old days, I would commute home for the day between highspeeds!
Good Luck,

I just saw them in concert a couple of weeks ago in Tampa. It's fair to say it was probably the most kick a$$ thing I've ever seen. If I had to commute, I'd be diong it from the worst place down here to commute from, I'm guessing-MCO. thanks guys

I sent my resume in 2 weeks ago. Nicole said she was going to talk to the chief pilot to see if I can get an interview (because of my low TT, but high multi). A few hours later I got an application through email, filled it in, overnighted it back. I called to make sure it came in - so many bad experiences with FedEx/UPS (u people suck). She was about to give me a July 8th interview, but then she said "oh, wait, I need to talk to the chief pilot, I'll get back with you." I never heard back.. :-(

talk about a tease.... my heart started pumping, I thought I was there...... I know she's really busy, maybe she'll get to me.

Good luck. I hope you get it. I don't think I was near ready to go to the airlines with 700tt. your time will come. Enjoy flying now while you can, you will definately get burned out in a very short time at most any regional these days. After that, it's just a job.
