Does PSA put a pool together or what's the deal with class dates? Do you know immediately when you will be put in a class?

Thanks

Straight from one of the horses mouths!

PSA Does not have a Pool, You interview on Tuesday, You hear back via Phone by Friday (later if you are not hired by Letter) and you are offered a class date during the phone conversation, Classes are generally filled 3 weeks out but occasionally there are short notice openings that come available! They call to offer but have never forced anyone to take.

Best of luck, Be yourself, TELL THE TRUTH, We'll see you soon!

Classes are every other week, Class sizes vary from 6 to 8 but we'll probably increase to 10 soon, If offered the early class, Remember, Seniority is everything.

Next class is July 12, May be full though, Next is July 26 and their are still openings there!

Good Luck!

I got an application packet today. It will be mailed tomorrow, I'm hoping they are quick in offering me an interview date. What is normal for PSA?

Thanks!

As soon as we get it, the recruiter will schedule you for an Interview IF you meet the qualifications and/or background we are looking for. Did you receive it in response to E-mailed resume, From the recent Air Inc Job Fair, or was it given to you by a Flight school.

Good Luck,

I called Nicole Axe today and asked her if she got my faxed resume. She said she has a whole pile and if I could email it to her. Then I asked what the mins are. She said 1000/200. I told her I only have 700/300, and she told me to email it anyway and she'll give it to the Chief Pilot to look over to see if they can lower the TT mins since I have more multi. So I emailed it and then I got an application through the email a few hours later. I filled it out and I'm going to send it overnight tomorrow.

Does PSA train for Both the 200 and 700?

I sent in an App but I didn't hear back. Someday I hope I can find a company who appreciates level D sim time...

It's amazing how slow your time builds only instructing after work...

Yes And No

Yes they train for both, But intially 200 only, after six months, to 701 diff, Then you are dual qualified! Alternate training every 6 months. Does that help?

Quals....

Hello,
I get the impression that some of the hiring is for attrition, but not all of it. PSA is still having new aircraft delivered this calender year. Not sure if they are going to be getting any after 01 Jan 2006, but if they recieve any other aircraft they will be of the 70+ seat variety. Possibility of some CRJ-900s down the road also.
This is just a guess, but I think that Mesa might be history as a contract carrier with USAirways in the future. This isn't a slam on Mesa, but more of a reality if the merger comes to fruition. Why pay a contract carrier when you can have your own wholly-owned subisiary operate your 90-seat aircraft out west? Based on this hypothesis, PSA might be the place to be. It is a gamble no matter where you hang your hat these days, and ultimately I hope that everyone finds themselves gainfully employed at the airline somewhere close to the top of their list of "best regional".

No they are not. Where did you hear this?

A couple of months ago a PSA pilot told me that they still had 4 more CRJ-701s awaiting delivery.

OK, but could you smell crack on his breath or in the vicinity?

Plans change, but I spoke yesterday with someone who really, really should know (DO) and he says there's nothing in the works.

This hiring is for attrition. We are losing FO's not just because they are quitting, but because many of them don't make it though training or through their first recurrent.

Lot's of Captains are quitting, though, so that should move some deserving FO's to the left seat soon.

I tried to send you a PM this morning, but it said you have chosen not to receive PMs. Am I doing something wrong?

I dont know much about PSA, is it a decent place to work? How is the life/ upgrade compared to the rest. Is it a MESA or a Comair, or a blow jets?

I am very interested in PSA since the domiciles are close to where I live. I am curious what life is like at PSA. What are the lines like, minimum days off, how long you will be on reserve, what the reserve call out time is, is the hiring due to attrition or expected growth? Also, how long is the expected upgrade time if you meet the requirements, and how is the America West merger going to affect PSA since they are owned by US Air?

If you like to gamble then go to PSA. Those getting hired could be a part of something big (as everyone has been told for the past two years), or this could be the biggest bust in the regionals...there is just no telling. One thing respectable about PSA is that you are paid and put up in a hotel from day one. They do not expect you to do anything for free and that says a lot. They do have a block or better contract and you will not be away from your base for more than 3 nights at a time. If you want to be based in a nice area it looks like Charlotte is the place for you with most of the flying moving to CLT. Reserve is crap. You will be abused but what is new? You could be on reserve less than 6 months. 10 days off min.

Yep. that about sums it up for now.

More airplanes?

We did take delivery of 9 back in Late January-Early March but that was it.....After Backruptcy, Who knows???? So if it was before then, yes it was true, after that....Lie. Two managemnet Pilots flew the last one out of TUSCON, AZ. on March 4th, 2005, One being myself so I know it is fact.
There have been rumors floating around for a while of more a/c, specifically 900's sitting somewhere awaiting delivery.....Simply not true!

SRJ should've said
"If you like to gamble then go to an Airline Job."

One thing respectable about PSA is that you are paid and put up in a hotel from day one. They do not expect you to do anything for free and that says a lot....I did not know NO ONE ELSE did this until about a year ago when I took this job...We've joked for No one to tell the Higher ups!

Everything sounded about right....Including "Reserve is Crap" but that's the case everywhere!
And as far as reserve less than 6 months, Some guys have come straight out and held a hard line as recently as March ( I believe, But do not quote me on this!) 6 months is probably about average for FO's....Much longer for Captains, once they upgrade!

Do you live in CLT.

Lines are typical Mix of 1 days to 4 days and anything in between.

Minimum 10 days off

See earlier post about reserve time....It's all about when you jump in to the "Musical Chairs game" and when the music stops.

Reserve call out is 1:30 minutes in CLT

Hiring is due to attrition

Upgrade is 3.5 to 4 years, Still less than sum, but longer than others...Pretty short for an all Regional Jet carrier....(Yeah, yeah Yeah, Here comes the Flame Bait.) See Musical Chairs statement above!

We do not upgrade out of Seniority so when you can hold it, You can have it....Part of the reasons are minimums were higher until recently....Last summer we had many more Airplanes on order and we anticipated Upgrades to go to half what they are now, After 2 bancruptcy, We knew upgrades would slow down....They are currently at 4 per Month for last month and this month, After that who knows?

Am. West and US Airways merger, who knows??? I'm sure everyone has there opinion, including myself but I'll keep that to myself for now. For now it business as usual for PSA and PDT which are the 2 wholly owned US Airways commuters....Wish I could say the same for Others (not the Employers but the Pilot Groups) but you had to pay to play and some will come short.

PM, I have received them.

Yeah, I didn't want to receive them, Sorry but I did get contacted some other way on here....I'm new to this, Maybe try the quick quote? I got an e-mail from an Admin. Person on this website that said they had to cut me off because a PSA server problem. If you are trying to send a Resume, Send it to [email protected]
This is not my personal e-mail so if you have a question, or something personal, you can send it there and ask them to forward it....If you do not want everyone else reading it, you are SOL!
Sorry.....

No Problem, I don't mind everyone reading what I type...

I'd like to know what I can do to become more competitive for a position at PSA. I'm currently a ground instructor on the A319/A320, teaching classroom lectures and flight training device events. My total flight time is just under 500, but I have almost as much time of instruction given (lecture, FTD, airplane, etc.). Including sim time I have a total pilot time of about 650 (est.)

Besides flying light singles on nights and weekends (about 20-25 hours a month) what else would you recommend?

Not more than 3 nights away at a time???? Where is that...sign me up.......HAHAHAHAHHA

EDIT:
Well let me clarify.....most on reserve is normally 4 nights way...though can go up to 6 by other means...but doesn't happen that much untill they become short. Also sometimes you will get into base......to just turn around the next day go back out. For the most part though, scheduling is scheduling. I've had worse, I've had much worse reserve, it's fair to middle, if not maybe upper part for regional.
