I doubt you give to many pireps when you didnt even know the correct freq.

Now since that is out of the way...What would be your suggestion to the FAA to better this situation? I gotta tell ya that if i got loaded up with ice, the first thing im going to do is not going to involve get a freq change over to Flightwatch. Suggestions?

I'd hate to be a passenger on that Baron. You depend on Flight Service to interpet the weather for you. Then when they miss it or you just can't interpet what they are saying your dependency drops to other pilots in the same airspace. Then when they don't give you the current correct weather you lapse into a rage. That is one dangerous ride you have going there. btw can I have your job?

you are all pissing me off, i dont' depend of FSS for WX, they give me the standard and thats fine. I listen, i look at all the charts and **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**. If you **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing understood where im coming from then that would be fine but you all are just acting like you are all just the **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** and don't depend on anyone. So if FSS sucks so bad then just make sure the next time you file IFR you just show up and go.

Don't forget your private message to me. Let's put it out here for everyone to enjoy. btw, can I have your job?

**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** my job.....why would i give it to you? aparently with your CFI you seem to know so much **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**, hows the traffic pattern, pretty fun? lots of Xctry time huh? Well, i don't know **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** but i have about 600 hours of xctry and yes, i depend on fss to give me the wx picture. I like pireps so i have a good idea of what else is happening up there. this thread has completly back fired because instead of all of you understanding that pireps are good source of wx data, you just wish to start a fight saying that i must be a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing idiot. well, if im a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing idiot how the hell did i land a captain position in a Baron with 500 tt when i got the job? I must really be a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing idiot.....beats sitting in a C172 with some dip**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** saying, okay, pitch for 79 and call the xwind. Sign me up.

Urgent pilot Report

OMA UA /OV OVR/TM 0000/FL030/TP BE58/Lrjtcaptain watchout! there is a crap load of ice in the clouds today, for further wx info contact flightwatch on 123.45.

There is only one way to get a corporate job with 500 TT
1. you own the company and the airplane.
2. Your daddy owns the company and the airplane

If neither, please enlighten us so that we can all get jobs.

PIREPs

I had a very good friend who was an FSS specialist for years in Billings and Prescott and an FSS instructor at the Monroney Center in OKC. She always advocated submission of pireps. She told us that even if nothing went on during your flight, submit it as a pirep. Any pirep is helpful.

Of course, if something's happening in flight you should submit a pirep. I remember one time we were on a normal training flight west of VRB. We spotted a funnel cloud and reported it. If you're going to submit the usual garden variety pirep, e.g. the "nothing is going on" type I wrote about above, you can wait til you land.

If you are currently handling a situation that includes a bunch of ice, no one expects you to change frequencies (during a crisis) to report a PIREP.

If you are busy at that time, a report 10 minutes later or as Bobby said, when on the ground, won't hurt a bit.

Listen, im gonna appologize if i pissed anyone off here. All i said was that why is it everytime i fly there are never any credible pireps. That was all.

My point is, is that im a low time pilot flying 20+ hours a week as PIC in a light twin. I dont depend on pireps or fss for wx but im just saying its nice to have all the available info. I hear 10+ flights at the same alt as i am so reality suggests that there have been more there before i took off. Why cant we call FSS and say hey, im picking up a little ice, or its bumpy. Just seems like i look at the wx. No airmets. Yea, visible moisture.....time to watch the wings close but all i was requesting was that everyone submit. I don't hide behind them as a means of informing me of whats going on. i just like to get a true observation by another pilot who has flown through the area recently.

As for your attacks on me about the baron, im not affraid of the ice, i usually stear clear of it......And when i say im bored, it gets old flying 20-30 hours a week by myself.....wish i had somehting bigger and faster with someone in the left or right seat. Last week i did 34 hours in 6 days, all under 91, those are long days....PIC by myself....just gets a little old.....so stop the flames....this thread was not supposed to start a fight......

It bothers me that you get bored flying a Baron. It bothers me that you aren't scared of ice. It bothers me that your flying 30 hours a week in weather but don't know what kinds of weather produce icing conditions. The picture of you flying the Cessna 310 bothers me on your web site. http://hometown.aol.com/skyboy232/index.html Then go under MeetMark. It doesn't look right. If you say that you respect ice but it doesn't scare you then that bothers me as well. In fact people who say they have never been afraid of the weather bother me. Especially when they say this when I'm sitting in the right seat and we are already off the ground and heading into bad weather. I just get a really "bothered" feeling about all of this. So tell us... Whats the real deal here?

ice doesn't bother me because i don't fly into it period. When i encounter ice, i either turn, land, or climb. depending on what is the best bet. I don't trust my known icing enough to fly throught but its a little added security and can buy me some time before im screwed. as for the 310 that im flying, what does that have to do with anything????

and why does me fly8ing 30 hours a week bother you. I never fly through **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ty wx, im not an idiot

I was borrowing Learjet Baron Captains phraseology. When I say fear I don't mean shaking in your seat I mean a respect that goes well beyond your ego. I haven't seen that in many pilots. I am sure that is due to my low experience level and that most if not all pilots are filled to the brim with humility.
