Can we sum this up?
1. If you pull on the yoke, the houses get smaller.
2. If you push on the yoke, the houses get bigger.
3. If you pull on the yoke too long after the power levers are buried in the MFD, the houses get bigger REAL FAST, and you might hear the voice of God.

...which actually sounds more like Charleton Heston than Richard Burton.
 
Well...I did say I was probably going to open up a can of worms with this topic and it appears to be so. There certainly is a lot of passion behing how we pilots have been trained. I guess it's the law of primacy... What we learn first is what we will do and it is very difficult to change... therefore we should be taught correctly the first time. Thanks to everyone for all the comments.
 
Now that the dust has settled...

...I must say I didn't expect it to go more than one page.

I thought for sure everyone had pretty much burned out on this topic.

But it was interesting to read all of the other theories even though mine is the correct one.
