I just got this e-mail from Pinnacle. I'm not interested in going but I thought I would post it so everyone can see what they are offering.

We are back and better than ever!

We will be interviewing on the following days: November 22 and 23. We are also interviewing December 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28, and 29. Please carefully look at your schedule and determine which date is acceptable to you. You will need to be at 1689 Nonconnah Boulevard (
cross street is Millbranch), Suite 111, at 8:00 a.m. on the day of your interview.

Your interview will consist of an Introduction to Pinnacle Airlines and a multiple choice test covering general aviation items. Failure of the score at least 70% will end your interview process. A passing score will advance you to an initial interview to review your credentials, knowledge and situational questions. You will also be evaluated on a Frasca Sim with multi-engine configuration with a final interview ending the session. Lunch will be provided.

Bonus!! Pinnacle is paying for all lodging while an applicant is in initial ground training, along with a $200.00 per week allowance. Pilot referrals by eligible Pinnacle employees and/or pilot trainees, who complete all phases of training, will receive $500.00 for each successful referral. Please, Holy God-in-heaven, don't let them go to Gulfstream again...

It's worse. We're now using the Capt program from ERAU.

Pilots with a Private Pilot rating are accepted, pay $80,000, and are taken through Commercial Mutliengine Instrument ratings and given an MD80 type rating in a full-motion Level D sim (which prepares them nicely to pass the CRJ training course with low time 'cause they're used to the sim and glass).

Notice I didn't say sh*t about being able to fly the airplane in daily ops or a real emergency.

Several people are having "trouble" making it through O.E.

Talked to a 258 hour pilot the other day in ops. She was nice enough, but just the THOUGHT of flying with a 258 hour pilot for a month makes me feel fatigued. :p

Of course, my F/O this month said the same thing about me, so I guess it's all relative. ;)

p.s. kppsg - what the hell is a DA-40? I know what a 20 and 50 are, but...?

I thought the insurance company put a stop to low timers what happened to that??

Some Kids' Parents

"Dad, can I have 80,000, I wanna be an AIRLINE PILOT for Pinnacle airlines. They fly jets, you know, and I'll really be working for NORTHWEST!

"Boy sure am proud of my son, he's an airline pilot now, just like leonardo di caprio was for Pan Am in that movie...hey son, how are those stewardesses, heh heh."

80,000...Pinnacle
11,000...Southwest
same difference.

Well said, actually I think that a 5,000 or 10,000 hour pilot paying for a 737 type to buy a job with southwest is the same thing as a 250hr pilot paying 80,000 to fly at pinchnickle!!! Southwest whore$$$$!!!

The original claim was that we were worried about "low time" pilots.

Then the "insurance requirements" claim was used briefly, but never substantiated.

Then the CVR reports came out.

Now we understand that the only thing "low time" contributed to was the lack of challenge to the PIC's actions by the SIC which was a direct result of inexperience.

Hence the Capt program. They CLAIM that they "can replace experience with training". *cough* BULLSH*T!

PCL has been back on the GFT/Capt bandwagon for about 6 months now.

She's a prop: http://www.diamondair.com/mainpage.php, good for IFR and XC training. I met a CAPT "graduate" at my ASA interview, he actually was in the group that went before mine did in the sim. He really talked up how flying the Mad Dog sim prepared him for this day and that he'd have no problems at all in the sim. I said "heck, 80,000 and i'd better feel good too!" Man, those kids must have some funny economics in their heads, I can't see dropping that kind of cash. Do these guys want to get into an RJ that bad? What's so lucrative about this career that drives people to do dumb stuff like Gulfstream, MAPD or CAPT? Is it that Jet syndrome thing everyone was yelling about? I don't think I ever would have wanted to fly the ERJ so bad as to be 10-years in debt! It just sad how these guys get brainwashed by those kinds of places to spend that kind of money only to be abused in return. Sheesh gang, 80-grand for a 20-grand a year job? What the heck are these guys thinking? What is a thousand hours today? Like maybe a year as a CFI/freight/banner dude? C'mon, one year that's only 12 months and you'd be so much less in debt. I think my degree + ratings was maybe 30 large. Ok, rant over, the game is back on...

I think the CAPT program was concived with getting students directly into a mainline carrier. NWA was part of this agreement. Now that most majors have forgotten what newhire pilot training is all about ERAU had to scramble to keep their program alive and the money flowing in.
