MEMPHIS (WREG-TV) - A Northwest Airlink flight made an unscheduled landing at Memphis International Airport on Thursday, after running into turbulence.
The flight is operated by Memphis-based Pinnacle Airlines for Northwest Airlink. The Canadair Regional Jet 200 (CRJ) had 39 people on board when the emergency occurred.
The plane was bound for Huntsville, Alabama from Detroit, when it ran into turbulence in the Nashville area. That's when the pilot requested an emergency landing at Memphis. Pinnacle officials say the plane also reported a mechanical problem. The extent of that problem is not immediately known.
The flight landed in Memphis around 11:15 Thursday morning and departed for Huntsville around Noon.

So, why would they head to MEM when Huntsville is right off the nose? Any knowledge on this topic? Anybody want to fill the rest of us in on what happened? Hurry before the finger pointing begins.

Dunno, but they made the local news here. TV genius said they had a "fuel light" come on when they went through severe turbulence...

Looks like somebody could use some remedial radar training. Just another in a long string of issues. HIB (TWICE IN 1 YEAR), Jefferson City, MKE..........Let's all be careful out there......

Gonna have to add some Archie Trammel to the stall training packet.
PBR

Hate to be a voice of reason, but flightaware isn't the most accurate thing out there. We also don't know if they actually penetrated a storm. With those nasty echos (ground based mind you), I'm guessing not. If they had, there would have probably been RJ parts mixing in with the rain.

Is that not what you just did?

Nope, copied the article and posted it to find out more. That's not finger pointing. I could, but won't and didn't. So if you don't have any answers then put a cork in it. If ya do then do tell. This company certainly doesn't have the best track record lately when it comes to safety.
Must not have been an emergency if they can divert to MEM instead of heading to Huntsville.
Still not a soul has had any info worth discussing.
