In nearly 10 years, this rumor has more traction than any other. It seems to make sense, too, but I am not holding my breath. Management seems rather optimistc about this.

We'll see, I guess.

Here is a fact: USAirways doesn't have the cash to foot the fuel bill to reposition a Piedmont plane from the east coast to PHX. Haha---good luck guys.

Were talking about a Dash 8. Fuel cost is the least of their worries with that plane. Take her up to FL230 and your sippin' about 300lbs a side per hour.

Our problem is them actually putting money into this place that they are squeezing every last ounce of life from.

Exactly! Where are people going to go? A 50 seat RJ operator? Plenty of future at one of those!

Everyone is getting so pumped about a PHX base but don't be surprised when it does not happen. The start up cost alone will be to much to justify 6 dashes.

What start up cost? I think the reason we are really still around is the versatility of our airline. We have no start up cost. Just open a bid for PHX, get the planes together and send a few MX Guys out there to work from a US Airway Hanger.
Only cost will be to get all the planes on line.

Now will it happen?? If history tells us anything the answer is "no".
