just my 2 cents + 19999.98 = 20K (almost there)

Hey look who's back.......

Some of you guys just don't get it. Seriously. Why would you go somewhere to make a lateral move in less than a year? Why not apply and try to get hired at places that are *gasp* growing. That way, you can have better seniority as time moves forward, not having to worry about your job every night. I don't get this mentality about getting turbine time, and then going somwhere else. Why don't you just network, find someone who works somewhere you think you would like to work and go for it. Quit being at the bottom of a list every year trying to get your 'dream job'. Get real.

But really, what do I know. I've only been at Skyway for four years, had a decent run so far, was patient, and now I will be upgrading in the jet. I could have upgraded in the Beech much sooner, but the schedules were really bad and I wasn't making much less as an FO. And now we will likely end up with 33 more 328's. Which means I'll be very senior, i.e. more money, quality of life, etc. For those that think you need to work for a regional to get hired by a 'better' regional, your're nuts. But I'll enjoy listening to you whine and cry when you come to Skyway because XYZ isn't hiring anymore and you WASTED a year of your life at PDT. AND you'll be at the bottom of our list, too. Eightdriver is right, the longer you stay, the more of a suicide it will be for you.

All you guys ang gals out there that have No 121 experience, don't listen to most of this b.s. on this board.

When you go lookin' for a job, you will be up against someone with 121 flying experience. I went from the right seat of a Dash @ pdt to the left seat of a jet partly because of the 121 experience.

Look around you in this career field, most of the pilots that are competative have 121, 135, and 91 time. If you don't have 135 or 121 time, you will not be very competative out there and anyone that says you will is just blowin' smoke.

Why not PDT, sure they aren't growing, but doubtfully you are going to land a 121 job and still be there in 10 years anyway. Go, get the experience, make descent pay, fly with some cool captains, all the while shooting out resumes' every month. You will become more and more competative and maybe even a better pilot.

Just my thoughts on the subject. And if you do stay with a regional your whole career, you will sound alot like 8driver.

If you can figure out how to network, anyone can get an interview. If you get an interview, the only person you are competing with is yourself. Otherwise, you would not have been called. It's yours to screw up at that point.

I interviewed with people that had all sorts of big swinging turbine time, but they couldn't pass a written test (a Lear pilot), didn't know how to fly an arrival (135 twin cargo guy), or how to fly an instrument approach (same). I had the least amount of time of them all. I didn't think it was a cakewalk, but I didn't psyche or second-guess myself out of a job.

Why not PDT? Come on, man. Are they growing? Taking airplanes? Besides PDT and ALG, name a large regional that's shrinking? BTW- I commend the pilots for being tough with UA MGMT. Right now that place moving quickly downhill. I feel bad for those who have spent a decade or more there, as all of the concessions and broken promises have hit the floor, all the while thinking the future is secure. But now is now, you are better off at someplace that's growing, a CHQ, TSA, SYX, and even MESA, I guess. What will the future bring there? Who knows. But they are all hiring like mad, and it would be better to start there before hiring slows again.

I got word straight from Piedmont today that the 1000/100 times are for UND people ONLY.

For the rest of us (non-UND), the times are still 1500/250, no exceptions.

Take it for what it's worth. I got tired of wondering what the truth was, so I went straight to the source.

I guess those UND'ers are that **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** good that their minimums are lower. UND new hires are part of the reason the industry is where it's at today. "I don't care how much they pay me, I just need to get the jet time" Isn't that their school moto.

Those from UND with 900/150 or 800/200 also qualify. Membership has it's privileges.

Its because Purdue is BadAs$.
BLZR, did you hear that BP is the newly elected Vice Chair of the MEC? Well he is. Lets see how much of of the pilots' and ALPAs money he can steal this time.

Is that the same gut they called "butt plug"? Your boy Olav is a real piece of work also. Not that we're perfect or anything what with the "self issue medical" guy and the just overthrown "used car salesman".
