Petitioning FAA to change 14 hour rule to 12 hours, FRA did this in the 1970s

It's insane that the FRA sets trainmen to a 12 hour limit in the early '70s due to train accidents.. first changed from 16 to 14 but still too many train accidents, so it's been 12 hours since 1972 or 1973, that the engineer and conductor MUST be off the train. But 135 rules in aviation still don't see 14 as reckless. If thousands were to petition the FAA could we get this insane 14 hour day changed to 12 like the FRA did almost 50 years ago.

It is not safe and completely insane to be on duty more than 12 hours without rest and pilot an aircraft.

I don't think too many here would disagree with you, and I nominate YOU to spearhead the effort... but good luck getting it done.
