So how does one go about getting hired by The Limited to fly the RJ shuttle? :cool:

Saw some Limited guys in recurrent one time. Apparently they sometimes get to fly the models to photo shoot locations and get to hang out on the set.

That must suck for them.
 
I think flying for Vulcan out of KBFI would be pretty close to the top if not at the top. Great equipment, a great bunch of pilots with very diversified backgrounds plus good pay and bennies go to make this one of the best operations going in todays corporate world. The flight attendants are pretty easy on the eyes as well, plus they do a fantastic job. This is not an IBM or General Motors flight department, this is way out on the leading edge of life style adventures.

Matter-o-fact one of the young buck, hot-shot Gulfstream pilots was dating a model whose name you'd recognize for a while.

But, those guys work way too hard. I bet they all breathed a collective sigh of relief when Beth Prichard, the CEO of Bath and Body Works retired last year. She was renowned not only for her punishing schedules, but also for changing her itinerary by days and countries.

You know I cannot speak for The Limited, but I don't think the Vulcan operation is any harder than many flight departments that I am aware of. Unpredictable sometimes, but I don't know if "VERY hard work" is a fair description. I bet there are a lot of flight departments with GV's, GEX, etc. that work every bit as hard if not harder. As a matter of fact I know a few guys who are doing exactly that. Like most professionals the Vulcan folks take pride in doing the impossible once and awhile. As long as the safety is not compromised, the mission is always first in everyones mind and the pride shows in the results.

Possibly. But the chicks in the picture definitely aren't cattle. :D

For those who come along and those who I don't think they looked at the link before you posted, it was the Limited's CRJ shuttle painted up in a Victoria's Secret scheme with Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, and a few others posing on the airstair.

Gotcha. Haven't seen the hotties, but I have been witness to the boarding process several times. I believe that this daily debacle is the reason Atlantic TEB just underwent the big expansion/remodeling project. Every afternoon, dozens and dozens of these yuppie middle mgmt. briefcase toters descend on the FBO like locusts. I have had the misfortune of trying to round up our pax during this clusterf*ck, to escort them rampside. Ever tried to keep track of a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds at Disneyworld ? That's how it feels. Minus the 3 dozen simultaneous cell phone calls. Jeeeeeeezuz :-)

No Doubt. I certainly never questioned professionalism or safety.

But I also know folks that work there. spew all the craap about mission and pride you want....waiting in Monaco for weeks on standby while the owner plays gets old!! - at least to me...

great people? great equipment? good looking f/a's? sure.... but thats not what I was talking about.

Working for a rich individual gives you a certain lifestyle - some think its cosmopolitan and cool - some would say it kinda $ucks.
 
I flew 380 hours last year. Split evenly between the G4 and the CRJ. Our shuttle duty day is 4.5 hours and you either do the AM run or the PM run but never both. We are on call between 8am and 6pm M-F. I've been quick called once since I started a few years ago.

On both domestic and international our pax stick to their schedules and 99.9% of the time they call if they are going to be late. And yes, on occasion we get to fly the models. I tell my buddies that we fly them a lot more than we actually do, so don't say anything.

A good friend got turned down there (even after I gave a glowing report to the background checkers--maybe that's WHY she got turned down!). She didn't know someone inside. ;) TC

Yea, I know a few folks over there my self. The two week jaunts in Nice do happen during the summer, mostly for the Boeing guys and if that is the worst thing you can say about this operation, then so be it. If in your mind anyone with big bucks $ucks, then your probably in the wrong end of the aviation business. Proably should try SWA, at least there you will find yourself in the midst of your own kind. BTW I don't spew craap (sp)? Suggest that maybe you did not make the cut during their last hiring. I think I know the guys that you know and take my word for it, it shows.

I think flying the good old playboy bus around has this one beat....anyone know how to apply there? definately my dream job.
 
New twist on corporate flying.

This might not be for everyone, especially if your a family man/woman but a friend of mine is flying a privately owned B767-300ER. The aircraft is based in Basil, Sw. and spends a good amount of time in Europe. One month on, one month off, They will pay for your commuting with a business class ticket. In his case he commutes back and forth form Tahiti to wherever the aircraft is when his monthly duty period starts. All hotels are provided for by the company during you monthly rotation so there is no need to have a European residence.

I like the one I have now but I must admit I would look very hard at any openings at that operation. It helps if you have spent a lot of time in the Middle East and feel confortable with all the nuances that go with it.
