Beanie said:A lot of these GJ pilots that you guys think won't ever work for a major, already do. A fair portion of the GJ pilot's are furloughed mainline pilots, not 500 hr wonders with "SJS". Not sure of the exact numbers, but I know that several guys and gals from AA are there. If you regional guys think for a second that a mainline pilot is not going to give a ride to a pilot who is furloughed from their airline when GJ's get CASS, because they went to work at some regional that you don't like, your nuts. They don't care who they work for. All my AA buddies think that GJ's did their guys a favor by making them Captains and paying them for it. They went to GJ's because they were not going to go to work as a F.O. at some "bar raising" regional for $20.00/hr first year and the mainline guys can't blame them.
In case you guys don't know it, your regional airline doesn't want you to be a lifer. There economic models are based on MOST of you leaving before you hit the "higher" end of their payscales. They don't want to pay a bunch of 10 or 15 year captains. They want to replace a 5 year captain with a 3 year captain, or a 7 year captain with a 5 year captain. Same for F.O.'s. They not only want to make money, they are trying to incite you to leave through the pay. If you think that they are going to give in and keep you because you are so valuable, your wrong. The longer you are there, the bigger liability you become. They don't care if you move on to the next level or not, they just want you gone. Fed-ex or Wal-mart, they don't care, just leave and take your higher paying position with you so a lower payed guy can replace you and keep the profit margins up.
Couldn't be said any better........This thread should've ended on this note....but the bitching and moaning will continue no doubt.
