Here is my take on this.

This man had a conditional offer of employment from jetblue. Due to the length of thime it takes for everything to come back this is commonplace.

Mr Baig I am sure was excited while waiting and had mentally prepared himself to the fact that he had a new job. When the rejection came in I am sure that Faisal was more than distraught.

( I will add that there have been rejections in the past that were later corrected or substantiated leading to a firm offer of employment)

I feel that he probably jumped the gun and picked up the phone looking for a fight or challenging the hiring dept. From everything I have read Faisal is the one that threw out the " Are you telling me you are not hiring me because of my name or religion" not jetblue. While I am sure that there is a possibility that the response from VK may not have been to the liking to Faisal I feel that he really jumped the gun here and handled this incorrectly.

JB has one of the most diverse workforces of any company I have ever worked for and I really feel that this lawsuit will go nowhere and Faisal really did some long term damage to his career.

I will add that I really feel some of the responses on this thread are really ignorant. I know many muslims and they really are exceptional peace loving people and good friends.

Does said applicant have a green card or is he a naturalized citizen? If he holds a G/card there is a program known as the AFSP (Alien flight student program). It was implemented Sept of 2004. It is run by, you guessed it, the TSA! and if they say you can't go to training for any reason then you have an uphill battle on your hands. They do their own background check and determine your "threat" level. If they say "no go" then the company has no choice but to decline employment or delay the offer.

Sorry to see this happen to Faisal. I worked with him at IDE and he was always very professional and a good guy to work with.

That's the same thing someone said of the guy who was arrested today in London, who happened to have an all-area access card at Heathrow because he worked there. He was also a national of England, pretty much a lifelong resident.

But I still can't help but wonder, did TSA reallly find something fishy in his background?

If so, then why stop him now? What about the past six years as an ACA/Indy pilot ?

But I disagree that all of the problems of the middle east are rooted in islamic hatred for israel. Granted, it certainly stirs the pot, but it's only one ingredient of the brew.

Mix in a teaspoon of jewish loathing of islam, a teaspoon of class separation, a tablespoon of Palestinian poverty, and a cup of American unquestioning military support for Israel, and you have the right mix of explosive inter-civilizational warfare. All of that doesn't even include the vast history of judaeo-christian, judaeo-islamic, and christian-islamic tension.

If the jews would respect islam, and islam would respect the jews, tensions would decrease. If the Palestinians were on equal economic footing, tensions would decrease. If the islamic world was on an equal military footing, tensions would decrease.

The diplomatic potential is there for Israel to come to terms with its neighbors.

You narrow minded people better hurry and protest that Olympic Gold Medal from Muhammad Ali and go back in time and stop him from lighting the Atlanta Olympic torch in what was quite possibly the biggest American tear-jerker in our Olympic history. All because he believes in the Qur'an as a member of an American founded Muslim sect. Heck he is even as bad as Bin Laden in your eyes, huh? I bet he was even the one who blew that bomb up in the Atlanta Olympic Park…..

I'm assuming you're implying that *IF* he was a terrorist, he could use the A319 as a weapon.

Newsflash, the A320 isn't much different... and the A320 is the biggest aircraft Jetblue has.

So where does that leave us? Back to square one.
