Have you thought about working for Simuflite for a year or two? Not only get current but really get back into the industry.

Send me a PM...

And I'll send you an application. Cape Air is a great place for someone like you to get back in the saddle.

Single pilot light piston twin with TONS of IFR to get you feelin good again. Pay is good to start and it looks great on a resume. Guys leave here for all sorts of jobs.

Greetings and thanks for reading my post.
I am an ATP pilot with about 3,800 hours, CFII/MEI and some 135 experience flying Chieftains in Alaska, and for Air Ambulance flying a King Air C-90 in Kansas; both single pilot operations....However, I have been out of aviation now for the past six years now.
Can anyone suggest the best method for getting back?
I would GLADLY pay for my training "ANYWHERE" to get back in the saddle.
DOES ANYONE KNOW if there is ANY COMPANY out there that 'might' hire someone as myself if I paid for my own training or for went through Flight Safety and got current or a type rating an aircraft a 'prospective' company flies?
For example...I talked to a company yesterday and they said they fly King Airs but all pilots must go through Flight Safety...
Realistically, if I were to go to Flight Safety and pay for example the King Air training....would anyone out there be willing to hire me off that particular training from Flight Safety with no previous flying time in the last 6 years?
I WILL GO ANYWHERE where there is an opportunity.
Any FBO's with a BUSY 135 CHARTER department where I could get current again and possibly get a foot in the door?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Email is [email protected]
Thanks and fly safe!
Rob

If you're young enough, apply to FedEx's feeder airline: USAF, navy/marines

First thing don't not offer to pay for training! I agree it makes someone sound desparate. Second, I would think long and hard about coming back into this industry. There is a pilot shortage no doubt, however the rising cost of fuel and oil are going to leave alot of pilots looking for new jobs and or new careers. This will offset the pilot shortage. Just read an article yesterday projecting $225.00 oil by 2012. Thats really going to hurt the industry, can't imagine charters companys being able to overcome that cost. I think you best bet for a career in aviation is Air Medical, there will always be sick people that need to be flown around, and the hospital or insurance usually pays the bill.

Head of to a regional as they are willing to training you and spend all the time they can to get out back up to par. A freind at one regional tells me it is taking new FO's 50-80 hours of IOE before they can be signed off. Pay the dues for 6 months to a year then start looking for that dream job again.

First I would reconsider all the down sides of getting back in aviation. If you choose to continue after that than here are my suggestions.

1. Do not pay for training!!!

2. Do not fly for free!!!( buddy of mine just lost a paying job cause of that)

3. Get current not just in a sim but some stick time as well.

4. Define your goals long and short term Corp. airlines etc. & where do you want to live

5. Do your research on pay, training contracts QOL, etc. lots of slimy companies. Use the search section on this forum

6. Can you afford to do it and what does your family think as they will also be effected by your decision.

There is post on this board somewhere that list a bunch of job sites.

Welcome back to the playground good luck!!

Get your inst skills up on a PCAD, apply at Airnet. Turn down no flying job. It is much easier to get a flying job when you have flying job. The regional path will open doors, with your flight time you would most likely make Capt in a couple months at T-prop regional. Be prepared to discuss why you got out of flying for such a long time.

Everyone is giving great advice but please do not go pay for training. It is just like it use to be where you pay the regional for a job but could still washout.
