I heard it's not pass/fail. Like you said, it's just to properly place you in the right class.

you may want to look at Mountain State University as well. They are properly accredited - and give a bunch of credits (up to 50 I believe) for ratings. It's also an online program.

50 Credits? Wow! How can they give 50 credits and every other program only gives 32 credits. Do you have to have a A&P to get all those credits? I am already all set up with UVSC for the summer and I am way to lazy to reapply and go through the financial aid paperwork for another school right now. I did notice the they allow you to challenge and transfer credits for free, so maybe I will do some more research. I know people that went to the UVSC actual campus so that makes me feel better about doing the online degree. I'm more worried about the core math classes and this COMPASS test right now.

Okay, so I am well on my way with my first semester at UVU (Formerly UVSC) and I am pretty impressed. I'm taking 15 hours this semester and it's keeping me busy, but I am way ahead on the course work right now. While you only get 30 hours of credit for experience, at least more 20 more hours are kinda a joke if you already have your licenses. But the core classes are no joke!

Here is my question, someone mentioned that there is a school that gives up for 50 hours of credit. I have a friend that is fully typed on the 747-400 and has a associates and a A&P. What is his best bet to get a BS with the least amount of work possible? He's a little older than me, and has a family so he has less time than me. Does anyone have any real expereince with Mountain State's online program?

Hey Way2Broke,
Congrats on enrolling and enjoy the coursework. I graduated UVSC in 2004 through the online program with a BS in Aviation. Once they found out I had an associates degree in aviation, I was able to transfer in a lot more credits than if I just had the ratings. Most of the coursework was pretty good and I actually was able to take a full course load while working full time.

As for your A&P friend, he should look into UVSC as well, because of their transfer arrangement with degrees vs non degree students.

Hey way2broke, how was that Compass test?

The English portion is a cakewalk, the math, well.... I will probably be retaking that. I studied alot of pre-algebra when I should have spent more time working with the Quadratic Formula. Math has never been my strong points, and one of the things I hope to get out of going back to school is getting better at it.
