Why not get a whole new guest at the party by flex inviting the TWU section of the AFL-CIO?

The way I see it, competition is good and having the teamsters and the AFL-CIO duking it out for bragging rights helps everyone.

IMHO, Flex going with the IBT would be stupid. And FO pilots should agree - it's not good for them to have their voice diluted in the pissing match Ricci has created.

Or does flexjet not need a union? Really if I were an NJ or FO pilot the last thing I'd want to see is a FJ union right now... so what is it boys - altruistic support or your company on top? You can only pick one.

What ever you do you should do it soon since as time goes by you can see all the cuts and changes which are taking place.

If you plan on organizing why not stop by the IBT 1108 site and ask some questions many Flex pilots have already joined and are able to stay annonmus so that Flex management does not know who you are.

You can communicate with FO pilots in the general rooms or in the private Flex room only. I am sure you will find it a lot more civilized then Flight Info.

If the words union or Teamsters scare you just use the word club, team or association. Afterall we are just a group of pilots working together for the betterment of all pilots.

Sorry but you are falling into another one of Uncle's traps. Dividing the pilot workforce will dilute the Flex pilots voices further. Sounds like an emotional post with little connection to the way Uncle's world works.

Having the 1108 represent both FLOPs and Flexjet pilots is similar to the likes of ALPA representing competing wholly owned regionals. For example; Comair vs ASA. Allegheny vs Piedmont vs PSA. I've been in both of those situations with Allegheny and ASA. It doesn't work. One group grows at the demise of the other. Contrary to popular belief on here, I'm not hard-core anti-union. I am opposed to being labeled certain things because I may not agree 100% with one's philosophy. That being said, the1108 may be our only option if it comes to a vote. Just beware that when Flexjet gets something then the FLOPs guys are going to be pi$$ed at the union leadership.

Total FUD. "When Flexjet gets something then the FLOPs guys are going to be pi$$ed at the union leadership.[/QUOTE]" Right from the play book. Tell me of one FO pilot that wants one consession from any Flex pilot.

No playbook here. Just experience. I'm not saying that one group wants to bring another down. I never wished ill will on any fellow regional carrier but when your company continually gets passed over for growth then you start to resent your union leadership whether it be national or local. Please don't turn my post into something it's not. I know you don't care for me and that's fine but I spent plenty of time watching ALPA try to stock more than one shelf and it can only be done at the expense of some other group. That's not an anti-union or pro-company stance, that's just the way it is.

So whipsawing is the unions fault now?

I remember the intent at one point was to have all of us under one union. Combined seniority should go along with that as well. A steam fitter works for company X gets laid off and then goes to Y, he retains seniority and PAY and gets the job based on Seniority. In aviation, we totally screwed up that primary benefit and always start over at the bottom each time we change jobs. I'm obviously not just referring to fractional. Why?

No, but it's just an unintended consequence that can't be helped. Just like you guys keep warning us of Ricci because of your experience with him, lots of us have the experience of watching a union try to please too many separate memberships under a common umbrella.
