To any current Omni 757 fliers:

I just got a call to interview with Omni for the 757 program. Before proceeding, I'd like to get some current info about schedules, upgrade time, benefits, the home basing scheme, etc.

I've combed several message boards for posts about Omni, and have a pretty good feel for what has been going on there. Before going forward though, I'd really like to get some current details from someone who is flying the '75 there now.

If anyone is willing to clue me in, I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance, and best!

Felix

Come on... Cant anybody answer this guys post? I got the same call as him and would like more info...

I worked there 8 yrs ago for 9 months. It was interesting to say the least. We had 2 airplanes based where I live so it worked out great for me. Pay was bad, scheduling pushed every reg known to man, the DC-10's were kept in great shape, etc.

I'm not on the 757, but I can offer my opinion since I've been working there for 3 years. I've learned the following over that time:

1) The experience looks good on a resume.

2) I wouldn't leave a job I enjoyed to come here.

3) If you are lucky, good, and liked, you can come here with 0 jet time and possibly be a Captain on a heavy in 2 years.

4) If you are unlucky, good, and disliked, you can come here with 5000 jet time and possibly be a First Officer on a heavy in 20 years.

5) Gaining seniority doesn't change your QOL much (see 3 and 4 above)

6) I thanked my Fleet Manager for the opportunity when I was hired.

7) I will thank my Fleet Manager for the opportunity when I quit.

8) It isn't a career Airline Pilot job. (See 6 and 7 above)

9) Just like everything else in life, It is what you make it!

Good Luck with whatever you decide!

I met a guy the other day in the bar who was waiting around for IOE at Omni on the 10 to go to World. That should sum it up!
