ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. Black Cherry Vanilla Coke is the newest addition to the Coca-Cola® brand from Coca-Cola North America.

AirTran Airways has a rich history of firsts with Coca-Cola North America. "The Coca-Cola Company values our relationship with AirTran Airways, and we are very pleased that AirTran Airways' passengers will now enjoy our latest product, Black Cherry Vanilla Coke," stated Don Knauss, president and chief operating officer of Coca-Cola North America.

Sounds interesting. That Cherry Dr. Pepper is nasty, though.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Why does there have to be news break everytime there is a new Coke product at Airtran. How about flying to more West Coast cities or maybe some new major announcements. It's been real quite lately. I'll guess I'll just sit back and read about Jetblue and Southwest.

Whatever happened to Snapple. why doesn't anyone care about Snapple?

Yes, by all means check out the story about AAI offering lower fares than SWA out of MDW.

Well, it is a major announcement for a company like them. Look who they cater to.

Care to expand on that? Please let us all know who we cater to. Then tell us about who you're catering to.

I'd rather read this article:

AA's soaring stock could lead to executive bonuses; unions not happy

About 1,000 American Airlines executives stand to gain bonuses thanks to the soaring price of the company’s stock. The bonus plan -- drafted in 2003 when parent-company AMR hovered near bankruptcy -- sought to reward executives and managers if the company’s stock performed as well or better than other airlines during a period that ended in 2005, Forbes/AP reports. During that period, AMR’s stock skyrocketed 169%, according to Reuters/MSN. The bonus payouts won’t be distributed until April, and the exact amounts will depend on AMR’s stock price at that time of the payout. Dan Garton, AA’s vice president of marketing, is scheduled to get the top payout, which would be valued at about $1.7 million if it were calculated today. At least three other executives would get payments of about $1.3 million based on the company’s current stock price. CEO Gerard Arpey is not included in the bonus plan.
As one might expect, AA’s unions are not happy. "Every person in management needs to clearly understand that it is absolute insanity to pay out seven-figure bonuses at a time when the company is suffering nine-figure losses, mired in eleven-figure debt and seeking further help from its employees to survive for the long term,” Ralph Hunter, an American captain who heads the Allied Pilots Association, tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Or this one:

Are AA's unions overreacting to management's bonuses?

American Airlines unions are overreacting to management’s stock-related bonuses that have been the subject of numerous media reports this week, says business columnist Mitchell Schnurman of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (free registration). “Why hyperventilate over some midrange bonuses that were earned over the past three years and still leave American executives vastly underpaid?” he writes. Noting that AA has already lost some of its top executives, Schnurman argues that “if American doesn't offer some upside to its executives, how will it keep them? … And if managers don't get the upside when the stock price quadruples, when will they get it?” Some will get as little as $2,000, he adds.
As for the controversy, he says this round of bonuses is different than the “secret” bonus scandal that forced out previous CEO Don Carty in 2003. This bonus, he says, was part of a pay plan approved over two years ago and was “shared with the unions and anyone else who read the company's annual proxy statements.” He adds that “it's notable that a stock-based pay plan has been in place at American since 1988; it just hasn't paid out for years, because the company was foundering.” And now that the company appears to be on the verge of a turnaround, Schnurman say he thinks AA’s top brass “deserve the money, not public catcalls.” For those with strong feelings on the issue, his column is a good read for anyone curious about the other side of this issue.

Maybe you should go on a sick out. How much fun was that?

Joe Bob Leofornio always likes something for nothing. I'm sure he got it for 10 cents on the dollar as the stuff is probably sitting on the shelf at all the major retail outlets.

:pimp:

How else would Discount Airline 'Guy' handle it. Hey... ever try those free pizza rolls at Kroger Foods... FREE.. good Huh....

Dont blame him a bit. Free is good. More dollars for funding our MDW expansion. (Dont tell anybody ... SHHHH we get our stir sticks for free too.)

DH2WN: Much better reading, to be sure. Every time I see articles about management bonuses I cringe. The rationale is always, "yes, but how will we keep our stellar management unless we compensate?" or "the million dollar bonuses really aren't that big!" or "we deserve it!". Never do you hear them stepping up and saying, "For the long term health/survivability of the company we will forgo all bonuses".

You know, when AirTran has to start actually PAYING for their cherry, vanilla Cokes their financials will go down the toilet! Just wait... :D TC

For Goodness Sakes don't let the people at the Univ. of Mich. hear about this, they are boycotting Coke products because they exploit third world workers. They hear about this and they may stop flying AirTran out of DTW.

Those who have been "catered to" by LCCs in the past have flocked to all airlines since every airline charges almost nothing to go anywhere.

However, DAL still holds the lead for the number of 60+ galley hags that can't remove the FA jumpseat from their butts for a whole three hour flight.

We need to go to DET....'city'. Ahhh thats where the money is. Those residents all enjoy Coke products. LOL

Our inflight service is good.. not great... but good. Light, but professional.

Some are lighter than others..... LOL...

SWA getting a taste of their own medicine

SWA is soon to be on the run from it own business model.

Bankrupt carriers can do more than just compete.

The only thing certain about SWA is that SWA does indeed have a sub standard product and everything else is on the table.

matt1 what does that have to do with a Coke thread?
