Oh boy...anyone else hear about the possible CR7 flying at IAD?

Ran into SH earlier, had a few questions for him about the DTW prelim, and then we got talking about the new bases, etc. Apparently UAL is in a crunch for more exPlus config'd CR7s in an effort to offer the service on more of their regional routes. He said we're in early talks with them and there is a VERY good possibility of adding CR7s to the IAD base by the end of the year....wasn't sure if this would come from ATL flying, (with DAL shifting so much to DTW and pushing away from ATL) or if new planes would come on board, possibly a mixture of both. I guess it's in the ballpark of 6-8 planes, supposedly we'll hear something about it in the next few months.

I wonder what that will do to all the guys moving to DTW? My guess is the IAD CR7 would go senior to the DTW CR7, but the CRJ2 remain junior to both.

I'm liking this possible growth!

I can see it now, 'we can get this growth, but you have to agree to dual qual with an override like skyw'.

That works for me as long as it's limited to pilots (regular AND reserve) who bid to participate in the dual qual program.

Let me guess. You fly the 200

I was a little glib...I'm not for dual qual, but have been considering ways it could be implemented and what the actual problems with it are. I take it back, dual qual does not 'work for me' here...I don't trust either the company or the association to implement it in a way that doesn't ******************** us.

No...I've been on the 700 for as long as I've worked here (since 2/2008) and am about to be displaced to the 200.

I would not opt for participation in dual qual. I don't see how they can override my pay enough to compensate me for the additional training responsibility.

The aircraft assignments probably wouldn't go much different, with most pairings being aircraft specific and seniority holding the preferred airframe.

I'm realizing that under certain conditions, it probably wouldn't be a bad thing for most of us.

- pairings didn't mix a/c types
- pilots could opt out and maintain training/currency in only one type if they wish

BUT, my reason to vote no on dual qual is based on whenever the company gets ANY flexibility, all they use it for is to screw us. This would be no different...I'm already getting screwed enough, the last thing we need is to give the company a viagra.

Agreed

The added liability and jeopardy associated with dual qual (which company couldn't care less about) should be very thoughtfully considered. Those wishing for this should be very careful what they wish for. This is potentially just another case of letting the camel's nose under the tent. It is long overdue for ASA persons to realize exactly what type people we are dealing with: wolves in sheep's clothing. Every time they are given an inch they take a mile and then try for more.

The ASA 700's I thought were basically DL owned and could only be used for DL operations. If ASA could start CR7 flying for anyone else ASA would have to buy/lease the aircraft themselves. Doubt any of our current CR7's could transfer to anything but DL flying.
