I'm with Sawmill's advice. At least the guy's smart enough not to list anything Embry-Riddle or that frackin' CAPT program.
Well since he's not looking for a college, then that would make sense. CAPT is done, btw.

Delta Connection Academy is well worth the money. Even though you will pay a little more for your training you will be a much better pilot. They have difficult standards which their instructors must teach to in order to better serve you the paying customer. Other schools will hire instructors that will allow you to build bad habits. At DCA all of our flight training is standardized so from day one you will be doing every thing the proper way. In addition DCA is airline owned and operated. Our flight instructors a guaranteed an interview at a Delta Connection Airline of their choice. We've trained more pilots in the last ten years than any other flight school in the country.

The above statement is complete bull$hit. I only put it up so that when you look into this school you are ready for their marketing tactics. This is a school you should not only walk away from you should run. The money is not worth it. They will suck all the fun out of your flying. They will treat you like garbage and you can build your time to get to the airlines much quicker elsewhere.

So let's focus on flight school characteristics more than the actual flight schools. Let's be objective and let the students learn for themselves. I guess it goes back to "give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eat for a life time." I'm sure many on her are CFI's so we should act like it. Meaning professional. If set the example here then students will see the contrast as they interview the many different flight schools

CAPT got dropped by Embry-Riddle but supposedly they're going to make an announcement that they got bought out by some company and will continue their operation. I don't know what brand they will continue as but one thing is for sure, their management sucks and they will hang you out to dry without losing any sleep.

I agree about the management. I dunno about them being "bought out". Didn't hear that, but who knows. I know they had to finish up the people currently in the program, and weren't taking any new ones.

DCA is expensive, trust me I know. Part 61 FBOs you never know what you might get as far as an instructor. As someone mentioned above some part 61 instructors view checklists as "optional" for the flight. And for the person who metioned to buy your own plane C-150 or Piper forgot to mention how much the insurance is going to cost your low time a$$ and the maintainence required to keep that plane flying at the rate you are looking to build time. Is there one answer to solve it all, no! Just do your research and do what's best for you. Just because someone had a problem with their flight school does not mean it won't work for you.
