I notice that some companies give preferential hiring treatment to members of OBAP and women's aviation groups. Being neither a BAP nor a woman, I was wondering if any other members of my demographic had joined these organizations and noted it on their resume. If so, did it help or hurt?
I just met a guy who got an interview (and hired) with Alaska Airlines after meeting a bunch of the higher ups at the Women in Aviation conference. Networking is a good thing.
It's not who you know, it's.... opps.. it is who you know. Nothing beats NETWORKING. Get out there and press some flesh. Introduce yourself and tell them your story. Getting known puts you in the forefront of their minds when it comes to who to hire.
