The General heard it from a "reliable" source. AKA the newspaper. General why dont you wait and see what the MEC tells you instead of being a drama queen about everything you hear/read? The media wants nothing but to stir the pot and you took it hook line and sinker.:cool:

Well, since the MECs are being quiet at the moment, then the papers are all we have to go on. Does it mean it is all true? No. But I bet it could be close.

And, you really should be interested in the cargo ops closing. Call your newhire coordinator and ask him for rumors. Come on now....

I already know whats going on with the cargo ops. They are understaffed and newhires are going straight to block holders on the panel in ANC. It is not closing, at least not any time soon. I however will not be going to ANC ;)

Well good for you. Instead of attacking me, why don't you seek the truth via your chain of command? I can't do that. Also, why wouldn't the cargo ops be a part of a 38 page power point presentation made by DL/NWA showing why they should merge? It was never mentioned, at all supposedly.

Supposedly? So you haven't seen the presentation. Perhaps the presentation only addressed the passenger route structure? It's entirely possibly. Can you go up your chain of command to see view the document?

Just like you i am watching everything thats going on but neither one of us will know the "truth" until the MEC lets us know. In the mean time Cheers :beer:

Talking about press reporting stuff way off track, I just saw an article from the Kentucky Post....here is the link and the excerpt.

"The boards of Delta Air Lines and Northwest had been expected to vote Wednesday on a merger, but now it's not clear if the boards have even met.

Someone familiar with the negotiations said a merger deal will not be announced on Thursday as had been hoped.

That person said a deal could be announced at the beginning of next week, presuming everything falls into place by then.

The snag involves a seniority issue still being sorted out between Northwest pilots and pilots involved in the Republic Airlines merger from 1986."

I just looked at the analysis. Actually, it's 89 pages. It does include the Cargo fleet and line items for Cargo revenue. Sorry to disappoint. I guess ALPA was forced to take it off the site due to some competitive info. I managed to download the PDF file.

No need to disappoint, I just wanted to know if the rumor was true. It was absolutely plausible thanks to old 742s flying the routes, and your largest customer (DHL) ditching you. It may still become true, and we would like to know about something like that before anything happens. I hope the MECs look into this, for all of our sakes. Thanks for looking it up.

Apparently there are still grievences being worked on about that debacle. See, this is a reason to move slowly and make sure we do things right. Career expectations should be looked at closely.

Any talk of the freighter replacement in here? Merger stuff put things on hold I bet. Talk is of 744F and A-330F mix. You couldn't imagine DAL 767LR a/c flying frieght out of DTW and CVG could you?
 
Are you serious? The NWA negotiators want the bottom 3000 pilots to be ALL DELTA pilots. If they park planes, or will park planes, don't you think our guys would want to know that? NWA could bring 13 old 742s to the table, along with 90 older DC9s, and some 787s someday when Boeing sticks to a deadline. (18 firm orders) So, they bring 18 for sure, and may lose 13 742s and up to 90 DC9s (30 for sure will be parked this year--the dash 30s). Wouldn't we want to know what we are dealing with? That is prudent.

Take a chill pill and quit blowing things out of proportion. There is nothing we can do to change the outcome and your constant moaning about how terrible you think NWA is has become tiresome. I have heard you jock yourself about how you are in the top 20% at delta. If that is the case then seniority integration will treat you just fine. Also, you know full well nobody here asked for 3000 delta pilots to be stapled so STFU about that already. Chill out, sit back and see.
 
To get back onto the thread. The rumor around the school house is that DHL was unable to get what they wanted from other freight operations and that they are back in negotiations with NWA to renew the contract. Also, Richard Anderson never cut the freight operations under his reign at NWA and if the merger goes through, it still has a viable future. Especially if the DHL contact is back in house. I would not write cargo off just yet.

Whatever jacka$$. If I want to question some things that could happen, I will do it. There is a very good chance the cargo section will go away now that your best customer DHL is gone.(have you read about DHL and their own downsizing? They are a distant third in the US, and that may affect your own renegotiations with them) And, to top it off, NWA Cargo has very old planes that are going away at almost every other Pacific Rim Cargo carrier. Should I question on an open forum what may or may not happen? I shouldn't? Is Liz Fedor lying about what she printed in her article? I suggest you call her and tell her to STFU.

And top 20%? Huh? I said I would be in the top 20 pilots when I retire in 22 years. Big difference. Do you need glasses?
