I just heard that NWA has decided to seat lock the ropes for 4 years in the 747 SO position. Can anyone confirm?

Pilots are subject to a 48 month freeze if they move from a higher paying position to a lower one. Yes, they get a 4 year lock at current pay.

If that is true that would also mean NWA may keep those 747-200s Cargo planes for another 4 years.

Bye Bye--General Lee

The cargo side is profitable and attached to the Asia slots, do you think that Delta would drop it if there were a merger?

NWA's decision was as of last week and if it holds true, there could be a whole bunch of retirements out of the 747 SO block holder slots.

No, there is no seat lock for a "new-hire". You get one aircraft move then you get a 2 yr lock.

This Rope seat lock is not new, it is in the contract that if you move from a higher paying position to a lesser one, you incur a 4 yr lock. I don't think this post is accurate, however. Since the age 60 has passed, I was under the impression that the Ropes would be allowed to bid back to a window seat. I could be wrong though.

If the "new-hire" lock were 4 yrs on the panel, NWA would have a he!! of a time filling classes!!!!

A rope is a senior pilot that went beyond the age 60 cutoff and switched to an SO position with hopes of getting their old seat back once the 65 change went through.

A ROPE is the guy in the back of the cockpit with his head back snoring and drooling with a puddle around his chair because the depends could not keep up. How to deal with the snoring? Put a plastic bag over his head to muffle the snoring. Im still not sure what do about the pee.....

ROPE's have been around long before age 65 was a twinkle in a SWA pilot's eye... ;) TC
