Heyas,

FYI, the NWA MEC will be representing Compass pilots, as opposed to a separate/independent MEC.

Any ex-Eagle guys want to chime in on how well APA represented Eagle guys back in the day before the single carrier petition for the 4 Eagles?

Nu

That doesn't sound like a very good deal for Compass

Agenda Item 30 (Representation of Compass Pilots): The NWA MEC recommends to the ALPA Executive Council that the following representational structure for Compass pilots be approved and implemented:

1. Compass pilots will be represented through the Northwest MEC.

2. Compass pilots will be assigned to the Northwest Local Council for the domicile which they are based (Northwest LECs are DTW, MSP, MEM, ANC, SEA as of October 2007), subject to MEC policy. In the event Compass pilots are based in a location which does not have a Northwest LC, such Compass pilots will be assigned to a Northwest LC by the Northwest MEC.

3. Membership contract ratification votes shall be structured so that only Compass pilots vote on issues involving changes to the Compass contract and only Northwest pilots vote on issues involving changes to the Northwest contract.

4. Participation by the Compass pilot group and the Northwest pilot group in membership strike and assessment votes shall be determined by the NWA MEC on a case-by-case basis.

5. Compass pilots will be added to current and future MEC and LEC committees, as appropriate, to assist with the representation of the interests of Compass pilots.

6. Northwest and Compass will be treated separately for spending limit policy purposes under Section 60.C.2.c.

7. The Northwest MEC shall create a new position titled Compass Pilot Coordinator. The job duties shall include coordinating the resources of the MEC to represent Compass pilot issues, including coordinating the work of MEC and LEC committees in the handling of Compass pilot issues, and attendance at NWA MEC meetings. This pilot will be elected by the Northwest MEC and will report to the Northwest MEC Chairman.

8. Beginning in 2008, at the second Quarter MEC meeting, the Northwest MEC will review annually the representation structure for Compass pilots, consider the views of such pilots, and may make additional or different recommendations for Executive Council action.

9. The Northwest MEC Policy Manual will be amended, as necessary, to incorporate these concepts.

Passed Unanimously

Do the Compass guys get a say.... or is this business as usual at ALPA.... The mainline guys speak for the "little guy".....

How did things work @ Mid Atlantic? Did they have thneir own MEC, or were they part of AAA?

Are you saying that the Red Books don't care about the little guy? Say it isn't so

The "red books" don't control the NWA MEC like they used to. This is a different MEC than you remember under the McClain administration.

Personally, I would have suggested separate status reps for the Compass pilots, but a single MEC. This setup is going to create animosity. The NWA pilots outnumber the Compass pilots in every LEC, so a Compass pilot will never get elected to a status rep position. That's going to create some rancor in the Compass ranks.

Looks like ALPA hasn't learned from it's mistakes..... I thought ALPA had changed PCL..... Same old stupid mistakes as before..... the more things change, the more they stay the same.......

Yet another setup for the fall. Buckle up.
