Well,
I seems that the NWA?DAL merger is in the news again ..It seems almost that it is well orchestrated by both managements.
Both airlines entered the same courthouse, on the same day in the same city to file for bankruptcy.
Nwa is a Delaware corp with the home offices in Minneapolis, a Democratic state....... The local administration in Manhattan is predominately, Republican with very pro administrative lawfirms nearby in Wallstreet. Its almost the "perfect storm" for both DAL and NWA, lets put it another way, the time will never be more favorable to both airlines to allow their fortunate executives to cash in on billion$ of dollars given to them by the employees...
Check out, newbrige capital.com
NWA's LBO chief Gary Wilson and Al Checci along with NWA's chief legal council, Richard K. Blum set up Newbridge to finance the leasing of NWA's A319's a few years back. The most recently bought the Bank of China and did an LBO worth 12 Bil....they certainly have enough cash to do a DAL/NWA deal....if it can make 'em richer.
BTW, Texas Pacific and Texas Capital Partners, members of Newbrige Capital is run by David Bonderman who is mostly associated with the airline canibal, Frank Lorenzo.
I'm sure that they're licking their chops...
