Well,

I seems that the NWA?DAL merger is in the news again ..It seems almost that it is well orchestrated by both managements.

Both airlines entered the same courthouse, on the same day in the same city to file for bankruptcy.

Nwa is a Delaware corp with the home offices in Minneapolis, a Democratic state....... The local administration in Manhattan is predominately, Republican with very pro administrative lawfirms nearby in Wallstreet. Its almost the "perfect storm" for both DAL and NWA, lets put it another way, the time will never be more favorable to both airlines to allow their fortunate executives to cash in on billion$ of dollars given to them by the employees...

Check out, newbrige capital.com

NWA's LBO chief Gary Wilson and Al Checci along with NWA's chief legal council, Richard K. Blum set up Newbridge to finance the leasing of NWA's A319's a few years back. The most recently bought the Bank of China and did an LBO worth 12 Bil....they certainly have enough cash to do a DAL/NWA deal....if it can make 'em richer.

BTW, Texas Pacific and Texas Capital Partners, members of Newbrige Capital is run by David Bonderman who is mostly associated with the airline canibal, Frank Lorenzo.

I'm sure that they're licking their chops...

Not only that, but as of today, management is positioning DAL to merge into NWA and then be purchased by Air france to follow when congress allows the ownership. The global airlines are emerging.

Doesn't Air France own KLM which owns NWA which will soon own delta?

KLM chief says Northwest-Delta merger possible
Wed Jun 14, 2006 8:49 AM ET

AMSTERDAM, June 14 (Reuters) - The chief of KLM, part of the
Air France group, said that a merger between U.S.
airlines Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines
was a "real possibility," Dutch news agency ANP
reported on Wednesday.

Leo van Wijk, chief executive of KLM, told reporters in New
York that such a merger would produce benefit for Air
France-KLM, adding: "It would be easier to deal with one
entity."

The U.S. airline industry has been battered by rising fuel
costs, weak revenue and low-fare competition, leading some
carriers, including Delta and Northwest, into bankruptcy.

In January, U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta
suggested that a merger between Northwest and Delta could
result from the latest round of industry restructuring.

Mineta is not the first industry expert to predict
consolidation in the ailing airline industry. And analysts
have speculated on the possibility of a Delta/Northwest
merger.

I resemble that statement!

I hope you don't mind another paycut.

I'd love to stay and chat, but I'm busy packing my golden parachute.

Frank! Where've you been?

what was that old joke...that they would combine the names of both the airlines, they would take the Delta from the delta airlines and the airlines part from the NWA name. they would call it delta airlines.

I'm sayin' again: the double-breasted uni is a deal-breaker. Also, Congress just threw a wrench in the works on the foreign ownership thing (well, a speedbump, anyway).

Frank, thanks for driving by. I think you ran over my children on your way through -- I'm really, really sorry they were in your way, in my front yard ... in their strollers. Please, feel free to ship them back to me, Space A, ID75; and send me the bill for detailing your limo. (Can we talk about a payment schedule?)

The EU wants the right to buy into the airlines, not buy the entire airline. Do to MAC flying, we need to retain 51% incase of wartime troop movements. The Bush Administration wants to increase the size to 49%. The House of Representitives today voted to stall the issue anyway.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I think it's all a bad idea, if I can find it I'll post an article I read on the ability to find domestic capital to finance air carriers.
