Are the ANC trips still 10 days? The s/o slot was a great place for a new-hire to hang for a while. And while asking about trips - Can one still be 'min-sked'? I heard the monthly max had been increased on all flying.

Thanks - Baja.

December trips vary with the majority being 3 through 7 days (47% of the ANC trips are 3 days). There are a couple 9, 10, 11, and 12 day trips.

You can bid, and recieve min-sked. Actually, the bottom blockholders on the -9 are having to go to schedule completion now and sometimes are still not able to get up to the min sked value, thus the requirement for time available.

Schedule completion? Fill us in. How senior is the most junior person in Seattle?

I have a feeling whale F/O's may be leaving for narrow body CA slots where the pay is close but QOL is better.

Let me clarify... I am a narrowbody person and I do know all the caveats left for the widebody folk. That I do not dispute.

When I made the QOL remark I was talking about the people that commute up there to be on reserve. I know of 2 ANC F/O's that are going to the 75 CA seat soon. One will live in base and the other will drive to base in 1.5 hours. For them it is a huge QOL improvement. There may be many more ANC FO's that are thinking that way too. The pax Widebodies are another story i'm sure. Adding some more fuel to the debate, who knows what will happen with the 787 bid....

On a different note, we have heard of international expansion with A-330s and B-787s at NWA...any rumors about any future freight expansion?

I have heard (cannot verify accuracy) that 40% of NWA profits come from their freight flights. If so, why would they even think about parking any 742's?

That is good to hear. I'm curious what the life span of the 747-200 eventually will turn out to be when all is said and done?

All things being equal: Once you've hung your hat at an airline and are waiting till your number gets called to be Captain, the 747 is a fantastic place to ride the pine. IMHO.

I've driven a 70's Lincoln land yacht, now I want to fly a 70's sky hog....It's all about the space you take up and air you displace.
