To anyone's knowledge, is there some rack and stack method that is known?

Sounds like it is mostly voodoo.
Since SWA in known for being creative and saving money, maybe they're using the Magic 8 Ball in conjunction with a spreadsheet these days. ;) At $4.99 the Magic 8 Ball is a great investment as it requires no electricity, no maintenance, and can be used for both professional and personal advice.

On a sidenote, I spoke to one of the PD's sweetest folks last week. She mentioned December interviewes as well.

My magic 8 ball said that Auburn would win.
War Eagle, Just another SWA wannabe
You're Magic 8-Ball is defective or smoking crack behind your back...recommend you replace it or have it drug tested and detoxed ASAP. ;)

It's gonna be a heck of a game, but I think Auburn my be a little flat afer the off week. Lennards looser...... Auburn on the plains.

Roll Tide!!

Oh yeah, Yall keep hiring at SWA for a couple of more years cuz I'm a gonna need a job down the road. Gotta keep makin' money so the wife can spend it all.

Pig, congrats & Walden thanks for the info.

Unit, brother I don't know what the magic formula is, but I'm cheering for folks like you who have patiently waited.

chase, you're an inspriration for all of us wannabees. Thanks for all of your great info!!

Like Walden, I appreciate getting the latest stack of info regarding quals to call. Got the call yesterday for an SWA interview in Dec. I'm one of those folks who pondered "to type or not to type." In the end, I can say that getting the type was well worth it. It's easier to say that now with a pending interview, but I would have said that to anyone last week or last month as well. Why? I must say that my experience at HPA was about the most professionally enriching training/experiences I've had. My training/sim partner was a civ capt at a regional. I can honestly say I was humbled and blessed to have such a mature, competent & experienced partner (and classmates for that matter). Learned a ton from him regarding civilian and "real world" flying. His contagious enthusiasm was/is a source of inspiration - If you're one of those folks (like I was) who pondered the "to type" question, please PM me and I'll talk to ya about my experience and hopefully answer any questions you may have. Don't mean to get the thread off track.

All military time
Total hrs: 3200
Total PIC: 1900
Multi eng: 3100 (P-3s and C-12s)
5 Air Inc conferences (not sure they help for SWA)
Online app: Jul 04
73 type: Aug 04
Call: Nov 04

What do I think helped the most - the type from HPA.

Take care and fly safe!

Thanks JTB

The "reward" is in reading the good news that does occur in this crazy business we call aviation. To see & hear about the stories of folks like yourself who are working to better themselves & pursue a goal is always exciting to be a small part of....the reward in knowing Southwest is getting some great folks for the next 20-30 years and to help those folks is kind of mind boggling when one thinks about it.

We've all been helped by others & just as you have inspired others with your post I hope in a small way myself & the others from SWA who do the same thing on here do the same...help others. Good luck at your interview...glad you thought your experience at HPA was worth it...was there today to have the "ballpark lunch" with some great folks who are getting their types....what a class group of guys working hard like you to get that most desired call from Southwest.

Regardless of how the interview turns out your experience at HPA & your interview experience at Southwest will be such a huge advantage for you & your family....if you get hired, your prayers are answered...if you don't, you will have been through the process & will be that much better prepared the next time....experience that others would love to have. You're in a win-win situation in reaching your career goal, hopefully in the near term!!!! Keep everyone posted as I'm sure you will.

cheers & God Bless to you all those Veterans out there for your service and sacrifice!!!

XMAS in November...

For those keeping track of how everybody stacks up.....

Called for Dec interview on Wed. Had choice of 7 open days on Thurs morning. Mil:3400TT, 2000PIC.

As for those debating the type, I planned early in 2002, saved through 2003, typed at HPA Dec 2003, and flew my ass off. I never viewed $8K as an expenditure, but always as an investment. I wanted every advantage I could muster. Mark and Joe do a great job at HPA, although I still haven't seen any finders fee checks from all my referrals.

Congrats on the Dec interview. You're right about the conferences. I think it's the rare case that it helps someone get an interview at SWA. I haven't been to one in 2 years. When in Dec is your interview?

nevermind

Good luck to all interviewing in Dec!

Congrats to all those getting SWA interviews in Nov and Dec and to the Auburn Tigers and their fans. Yes they gave my Dawgs a butt whooping. :(

I wish Auburn the best as they continue their quest for a national championship.

The quest will have to continue through this year as there ain't no way they's gettin' past SoCal and OU.
