What's going on with all the non-aviation related threads? On this page alone there are threads about window blinds, religion and cars.

WTFO!

Thread drift is one thing but to start threads about this crap is a waste of bandwidth and time. Can we try to keep this site aviation related?

Richard,

This is not my site. I don't know the webmaster, etc. If it was, I would welcome any subject that is not demeaning or indecent.
I see this site as a site FOR aviators, not a site ABOUT aviators. Pilots, especially professional pilots, lead a somewhat solitary life. Unless you are sitting reserve in a crashpad full of people, you spend a lot of time alone. Aside from recurrent we rarely have the opportunity to just visit with each other and discuss anything. Unless you work where they offer buddy bidding, you sometimes spend a whole month working with someone with whom you can not converse, so the ability to get on flightinfo and interact is sometimes akin to walking into an open hangar door. You may talk about the airplane sitting in the hangar, or you may talk about the cell phone service at the airport. Then you may talk about cell phones in general, etc. Eventually the topic returns to aviation and all is well.

So, does it really matter that a pilot wants to know what type of auto other pilots drive? Does it matter to you if five guys want to duke it out over religion? It doesn't to me, we're just a bunch of people sharing a common bond, but with varying outside interests.

Show me a pilot who cares only about aviation and I'll show you a boring pilot. For that matter, I don't even know a pilot who doesn't endulge in numerous interests outside of aviation.

To me, the outside interests are as much a reason to come here as is aviation.

Besides, if you don't appreciate religion etc, discussions, don't clik on them.

regards,
enigma

Hear hear! Couldn't have said it better myself.

Now, anybody want to talk about barbecue? :D

Richard,

There is more to life than just aviation. Take a read of some "off topic" posts and you might lean something.

Did someone mention BBQ??

I should've known this would be the response.

O.K. - I'd like to talk about buying motorcycle forward controls, any suggestions? My Lennox furnace is short cycling, is it the thermo-coupler or the thermostat? Also, I'd like to take a poll on what type of underwear Catholics wear. What do you think?
:)

BBQ!
I was in KC a few days ago and for lunch we went to the Smoke Box. It was pretty good stuff! The slaw and beans were pretty good too!

I think that all depends on what they do for a living. I read a survey of 100 Catholic Priests and 51 of them don't wear any at all.

My guess would be the thermostat.

Way too much time on your hands.

Thanks for the link to classiccruiser.com. I may have found what I'm looking for.

The thermostat (Honeywell) is new and the furnace is only four years old. It is a 90% high efficient model. Could it be building up too much back pressure? I should have bought a Rheem.

should be plenty of sites online you can find bolt ons for whichever brand/model of bike ya got, personally i'd like to get a chopper made up with a jockey shifter

easy way to find out, listen to your thermostat, does it click frequently in relation to the furnace coming on/off? if not (probably) then it's the 'thermo-coupler'

beats me, but they took our poll abilities away so i guess we'll never know, another of lifes great mysteries
