GIA,
We owe much to those, past and present, who have served or are serving in our nation's Armed Forces. We owe even more to those who have died while performing that service. They served, and sometimes died, to defend your freedom. Yes, even your freedom to express your opinion, however valid or ill-considered it may be. These individuals deserve our respect, and our thanks. Please reflect upon the following quote from John Stewart Mill.
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)
