Use forums like this to spread the word. The day a contract is imposed and not agreed upon we don't show up. Union started or not. What happens if ALPA gets sued with a sick out. Well, I quess our millions in dues start to work, ALPA can foot the bill since they couldn't help in other ways.

Have fun in jail for violating a court order.

The judge won't throw anyone in jail. For what, being sick or following SOPs. I'm tired of subsidizing management's stupidity. Not one cent and hopefully this time, everyone is truly willing to walk. At least 51% of us.

At least in jail, I won't have to worry about putting a roof over my head. or making enough money to buy food.

they still give you food in jail, right?

NOT ONE CENT!!

Who bailed out all the NYC transit workers when they were arrested for their illegal strike.......wait, they didn't go to jail.....nevermind.

Stand Tall!

You guys are smoking crack if you think the judge would throw ALL of you in jail for not showing up to work and calling in sick, said it before, and the workers in New York proved it.

The judge would call all the ALPA people in and threaten to fine them, but without PROOF that ALPA caused or even supported the sick calls, no one would get fined and all the judge and the company could do would be to require doctor's notes. Easy enough to get for various reasons, 2 or 3 days later you may no longer have food poisoning, have evidence of a sprained ankle because you kept it on ice, have no traces of your 24 hour flu bug, etc.

Not saying it's what you should do, just pointing out the obvious: XJPilot and HawkI are correct, it would get your point across and if enough people did it staggered over several days of the week, it would disrupt the schedule badly enough to cause the company severe financial damage past anything they could EVER hope to recoup in reduced wages / work rules.

Good luck!

Are they going to put 800 people in jail for calling in sick? Or quitting? Or just not showing up?

Let 'em try.

No. I never said that. If you have nothing better to do with your sick time than go ahead and call in sick all you want. That isn't illeagal. What will most likely be illegal will be an ALPA endorsed strike, sick out, write up campaign, ect. Bottom line is we are at a serious disadvantage to the company here and most of us know it. The goons are holding big slick and we are trying to call with 7-2 off suit. Like our attorney Mr Joe said, "do you want to get punched 3 times or 4 times?" Doesn't speak well of our standing.

Agreed. But honest to christ, I would rather take it from a judge than have to give in to Spandex Jingleballs and this crooked SLT. If the law gives it to us that is one thing but I will not cow-tow to these criminals.

I don't care if that is wacked out or not. I hate this management team so much and if they are going to take us out, we can take them with us. I have been here over 10 years and I still have nothing to lose. This is crap.

Love to help ya, but I don't have any daycare sorry. And yep, out at 01 sorry. This is what ya get when you piss off everybody that works for ya spongebob.

Hey come on now....that goes against the guys working the ramp, not just management. All though to be fair you guys are getting screwed and I feel for you. I can't even imagine how it's going to play out.

I have to disagree when you say they have the advantage. It's true, we have a big fight but ultimately we have the wild card, just quit. I know this is easier for some more than others. There aren't many so called junior guys here, most are married and have kids, but enough is enough. 6th year FO pay isn't that hard to replace. I do feel for most of the seniors guys here but if we give now, they'll keep coming and coming... Not One Cent!!!!

In the over 22 years that section 1113(c) has been part of the bankruptcy laws no judge has EVER enacted its provisions. The labor battles of the past 22 years make Mesaba's current situation look like childs play. XJ's bankruptcy juge will not throw out your current contract. Not now, not ever.

The senior pilots at Mesaba are not going to stand up for themselves and all quit because they are faced with 20-50% paycuts and slashed work rules. That is something the crazy 7 year FO's will be doing. The senior guys didn't want/or couldn't get a job with a major when they were hiring like crazy so what makes anyone think that they are going to take a stand when this is the only game in town for them. (literally)

NWA wants XJ pilots to take a hike. They can start another regional with all newhires instead of paying 15+ year pilots. Yeah, I know it would take awhile to spool up, but it's not like they would be losing 750 seat per day to LAS with us going away. More like 90 seats to BRD per day. It's probably worth it in NWA's mind.

Where do you think those 90 people from BRD are going after they get to MSP?

LAS. My point is that NWA will take the loss of revenue from the "2 horse" towns that the Saabs are notorious for being seen in for a specified time if they think that:

A. They can make more money if XJ just goes away with their senior pilots.

B. They can teach yet another lesson to the other Union groups in the NWA family.

Excellent point! According to your 1113(c) at XJ they are looking at your own scope contract. This should be the first indication that stuff is about to happen. Without that letter, they will be able to start up a regional using your own resources. Interesting way to rehire everyone at 1st year pay.

Like I care if it goes against the ramp. Spongebob gets the largest bonus, so if his performance numbers aren't there maybe he'll take it in the shorts. I could really care less if the ramper don't get there performace bonus. I have never gotton one, and trust me, in the saab, its not just the gate and ramp who give you ontime performance. Not one plane will move in this company until EVERYTHING is SOP. Not one. Then we will see how there ontime performance looks.

When was the last time you saw a bonus cheque? So who is it really screwing....

Just read in the StarTribune Business section the judge is siding with MGT on the 19% paycuts and states MAIR's money is not our money. Another swift kick between our legs.... :erm:

I've started wearing a cup. Didn't feel a thing.

F this place!

We need to have organized sessions of quitting to make it impossible for management to hire quick enough for replacements. I say for anyone planning on leaving this F-cking place, we need to all do it at the same time. For anyone planning on quitting Mesaba, please throw in your two week notice on every Friday until April 1st. I think this is the only legal way to take down this company and its corrupt SLT! Taking this company down also takes MAIR down as well! Let’s see if Foley can find another $700,000 job for doing nothing! It will be FAIRLY easy for most of us to find other employment paying what our pathetic compensation currently is. It will be VERY easy once the cuts come!

"UNION STARTED OR NOT." And after reading your responses to others I can tell you are one of those that plan to be here forever and use that as an excuse to throw your hands up in defeat. I hate wimps like you more than John and Paul. You are more of a threat to pilots than management.

Some of the very senior are like that for sure, I'm not very senior, but I have been a Captain for six years. I had interviews sceduled just in time for them to be cancelled by 9/11. Many family issues, along with the industry can put a person into staying here longer than planned. Its not just because someone can't get hired somewhere else. My plans to be here for a while longer will not stop me from standing tall for what I feel is right. I will try to burn this place down rather than stand by this sh1t.

Nope. Totally inaccurate assumption. I was swimming in a big pool pre 9/11 and luckly never got called up. I now have several good outs cooking to move on from XJ. The last thing I want to do is stay at XJ forever like you say. You can beat your chest all you want and thats fine. When you make your stand I will salute you and if it is ALPA endorsed, I will join you. Unlike you, most of us will follow the lead of ALPA and the courts.
