Richard Andersen was asked about future pilot retirements and responded that they don't anticipate any pilot hiring in 2013. Is this old news?

They also gave no info as to the placement of the 40 RJ's.

Some other interesting comments was. "Delta will never have to do a heavy check again on a 200". So does that mean Delta will get out off all the 200's it is on the hook for... And it sounds like it will speed up the 60 that go away with this dea,l faster then they get the 900's... And they are undecided who will put the new 900's on there books.... And no new Heavy jets for Delta. Sorry GL.... They realy bashed the A380 on that call..

How many of 9E's 200's does Delta own? 140? So 60 are taken care of. How are they going to get out of doing heavy checks on the other 80, if they own them all. Take the 30 CRJ900 options..? That will down another 40ish... Make 9E take back responsibility? They still have a ways to go to there majic 125....

Another thing on the call is reliability.. They want a good operation.. That could be a cheap shot at 9E and Gojet......

Never thought DL would get the 380. As far as NEW widebody orders, correct, there hasn't been one, and there may not be one until the debt is brought below $10 billion, which is forcasted for late next year. (down from $19 billion in 2007 or 08? That's pretty good) Anyway, the current widebodies are ALL getting new modifications and refurbs (new product, with lie flat seats, AVOD (TVs in the back of each seat), etc) so they are planning it seems on keeping the current widebodies longer, including the 747-400s. With tons of planned age 65 retirements coming up here (many leaving around 62-63 years old), there will be upward movement eventually. When hiring does eventually start, it won't stop for a long time.

no need for more heavies... VA will be doing the Europe shuttle

HAHAHAHA. Notice the new agreement states there will be 9 daily flights from LHR to JFK, which is the SAME AS TODAY. It is a slotted airport (LHR), meaning very few slots to be had, if at all. This agreement now allows DL and Virgin Atlantic to compete better against the moster known as AA/BA, which will have over 13 daily flights. Without VA, DL would only have 3 to compete with. Figured it out yet? Btw, there is another JV with AF/KL/AZ, and that was tightened in the new contract, meaning more flying for DL. Joint Ventures have limits (usually percentages) for flying, and Dalpa will be a part of crafting this new JV with VA.

Decided or not, I'm sure they won't announce anything publicly until they are done using the 900's as bait for 9E concessions.

THANK YOU BABY JESUS!!!!!!!!!!

::NEWS:: The 9E MEC is working on a mutation of a large DILDO crossbreed with a carrot for future career opportunity with DELTA. Now you know there will be a long line for a yes vote.

I had been hearing/reading that late 2013 may have had some new hires but not to be surprised if they didn't need any pilots in 2013.

last I heard, Delta would be hiring in Fall 2013..this was a few months ago from a good source. you can thank the new contract for giving back 250+ pilot jobs in reserve "enhancements"
