Riding on Comair 2 weeks ago and I asked for a pillow for my back (I hate the CRJ seats) and the FA looked at me funny and said that they don't offer those anymore. Two weeks earlier I was on Amer. Eagle and I could have had all the pillows I wanted. What gives? Do pillows really cost that much? or take up that much space?

No pillows on Eagle anymore either.

If you want one, you should bring your own pillow anyway. Your immune system will thank you!

Its not only the cost of the pillows (which shouldn't be to much), but the extra time it takes when the aircraft gets turned around. No pillows = less work for FA's = less time on ground.

Theoretically, of course :)

I wish the american air carriers would start putting leather seats in their aircraft, like Ryan Air (based in ireland) is doing. Its easier + faster to clean leather than the regular stuff = quicker turn around times - or so MOL explained.

You want cheap fares, somethings gotta go.

Thats a cop out. "Cheap fares" are still hundreds of dollars. The airline business is a service oriented industry thats forgotten the service. If you buy off the dollar menu should you not still get good service?

Dont you know???

The FA's are here for your safety. Not for the pillows.

I only asked an FA for a pillow b/c I couldn't find one myself. And I agree, the pillows are pretty nasty, which is why I don't use them for my head, I use them as lumbar support.
And the cheap fares appear to have nothing to do with the pillows, it's for the turnaround time as someone mentioned above.

Russian, you have TU-95 written in your experiance. I was pondering how powerful it was a T/O can you enlighten me?

Stupid question. However, it will level any city faster than you can say:

POOP.

And our fares today compared to those say 10 or 20 years ago, yeah, we're in the bottom of the barrel right now... So don't expect much at all when we're all turning into glorified "buses."

Come on man, you can't compare fiscal numbers from 20 years ago to todays. Saying a F/A isn't responsible for a passengers comfort is like saying a pilot is only responsible for getting the plane to it's destination safely sans the condition of the ride. You think if pax paid more for their tickets that you'd get a bigger paycheck...the suits would for sure. You expect a certain level of service from the poor b@stard working the counter at Taco Bell don't you?

Sure I do... Of which I never get. So ya know what, I don't expect much anymore. And unfortunately, thats the direction we're all headed.

Why can't I compare those numbers??? Several thousands of dollars for a ticket in those days, versus the ticket you buy now off of "cheaptickets" for a couple hundred. I don't care how you decide to slice it, that's a big friggin' difference.

And if the pax started paying more for the tickets today, it'll save the government billions of dollars in some bailout down the road. Because we can't afford to keep "giving" the service away for free. Geez, I just paid a $2.00 fuel charge on my pizza delivery tonight! Fair is fair!
