They offered two options to get into the secured area. You refused both options. They can't let you through if you refuse both screening methods. Now, TSA and your company are wondering why you refused to cooperate with airport security screening. We can't decide our own screening methods at the airport. It's just one of those things. Good luck to you. Your intentions seem honest, but there is no way to measure that at the airport.

Very true, it's annoying as h3ll, but they are just doing their job. The fight should not be with the screeners in view of the public. I feel that they share the same opinion as the majority of the traveling public. And that is that it makes them feel safer when the flight crews are screened. Why, because most people are naive about the fact that we as pilots don't need to smuggle anything on the plane to cause mayhem. Heck, I wonder if more people new about the crash axe in the flight deck if there would be a petition to remove it. Anyway, the fight needs to be with the higher ups at TSA and the FAA. I think that Crew Pass is the the only option at this point, but I din't think it will be an easy sell with congress as they are elected officials with the same mindset as their voters. This post is not meant as flamebait, but is just my opinion

I think you are going to look back and realize (although I agree with you and applaud your effort) that it would have been so much easier just to walk thru the machine and be on your merry way.

Spot on my friend. We, as pilots, are just a pawn in TSA's illusion of making people feel secure. People stand in an endless line to get through security getting more and more pi$$ed because of the long delays watching the TSA flunkies wearing braids, pierced ears and acting totally unprofessional. But, the people's irritation is supposed to be assuaged by the fact that they see us as pilots going through the same BS. The public response is supposed to be "Wow, look at how secure we are. Even the Pilots have to go through security screening.". Of course said public has no clue that all of the minimum wage aircraft cleaners, caterers, rampers, etc..., who have as much or not more access to the aircraft than we do have no security screening whatsoever.

All I can say is it is pretty f*cked up. We are being played in the TSA's game of illusions. I am still waiting for the headline that a terrorist was actually stopped at an airport checkpoint. To my knowledge there hasn't been one documented case.

Not a bad idea. The TSA should employ AME's as security agents, as you go through the metal detector you can swipe your insurance card. The AME preform the pat downs and when it's all said and done, you have been cleared security and you've just completed you medical.

Well, he was arrested and fired. I believe he got his job back but I'm not positive.

So why aren't they 'dutying in' at outstations where no security is required and planting bombs on planes?

Why aren't they coming through a hole in the fence of employee parking lot and getting on the crew bus to be dropped off out on the ramp at the concourse with a bag full of weapons?

Why aren't they getting jobs as rampers/cleaners/TSA agents and running their terror ops as an inside job?

For that matter, why aren't they sneaking across the border in AZ (with the crowds of other brown skinned/dark haired visitors), buying some AKs and shooting up public schools?

I'm starting to think that the 'terrorist threat' is a bit overblown...

That's a different event. I remember that one too. The guy gets arrested and fired for making a true statement. Only in America...

The crash axe guy was a different event but happened around the same time.

The guy isn't that smart. He was wearing an Express Jet uniform and ID. So, he was repersenting his airline. I thought that was professional pilot 101. I don't understand why he was so confused about TSA wanting to know who the CP was.

And picked the worst way to stick up for his rights. He basically proved (in a different way) you don't argue with the cop about your speeding ticket. Save it for the judge.

Airport security isn't supposed to be the feel good event of your life.

It's like refusing a breathalyzer at the police station. You do that and you're viewed as guilty and lose your license.

He must have been looking to leave aviation.
