scheduling doesn't make the lines.

The proposed schedule options of 6/6 and 6/4 do not help the company.

Have you considered taking over scheduling?

No. Why do you ask? Do you not believe I could do the job?

I am quite sure it would not be necessary. Likely the department has the people with more than enough talent and abilities to do the job.

What needs to be done is get rid of the fools in upper management that prevent these talented people from doing their jobs.

I think the simple answer is Fixed schedules of any sort do not address the pilot manpower question. Fixed schedules should probably be limited to about or slightly more than is necessary to cover the lightest demand days. Or maybe as much as the Average demand day. Much beyond that you will discover you had sufficient man days available but you wasted many on low demand days and so fall short on high demand days.

Of all the Questions and Problems and Challenges we face in running this business... VERY FEW of the answers will be found by top management. The answers are in the pilot force, the workers on the floor of the Flight Center, or in the maintenance hanger.

I have been relatively high on the management side in a past life. The secret to success is stealing ideas from the intelligent and resourceful people who work for you. Not running the place like a tyrant. CRM. Cockpit Resource Management.

You want good ideas on how to do scheduling. Present the manpower challenges and requirements to the Pilot Force. Out of thousands of people, there will be a few dozen maybe even a hundred workable ideas. There is bound to be a better idea than the one you thought of.
