Don't mean to be ignorant but why the vote ?? I thought NJA was IBT already ?? Decertification ?? Merging of two groups ??
Thx..
Some of the NJA pilots wanted to leave the Teamsters when they left Local 284 and set up (pilot exclusive) 1108, but the timing wasn't right then. Now it is. For the approximately 2800 NJA pilots, who have a lengthy contract and a good working relationship with the Company, becoming independent is the next logical step. There's also potentially an additional advantage. It is speculated that NJA and NJI will combine and the NJI pilots are thought to prefer an in-house Association.
The pilots of Flight Options will remain in 1108. Their group is considerable smaller and they're at the bargaining table so that makes sense. NJASAP and 1108 have a written agreement that the NJASAP pilots will help the 1108 leadership set up their own office and the two groups will work together in the future on mutually beneficial projects.
