Gun fighter, you only pay SS/FICA (payroll) on your first 80 or 90k, after that there is none. For instance, of you are a professional athlete making 200k a month. You pay payroll taxes on your first paycheck, after that there is no more, you maxed out.

The payroll tax is a joke.
The cap is $102K now. Finished paying them in July.

Obama has proposed removing the cap on Payroll taxes.

His tax plan has removed the Payroll tax cap for people earning over $250K... So Those athletes will pay Payroll taxes EVERY paycheck Not just the first check

When I was in a college economics class we were tasked with researching how much tax a freshly minted dollar bill would generate during it's life. It was mind boggling trying to compute an answer and I'm not sure anyone even got close to an accurate number. The reason is that (excepting gifts) every time the dollar changes hands someone incurs a tax obligation. Assume the dollar is first given to someone as income and about $.70 (a VERY generous guess) is left after state, local, federal, social security, and medicare taxes. Then, the holder spends the remaining $.70 on something and pays about a nickel in sales tax. Then the store owner pays the remaining $.65 to an employee as salary and the cycle starts over.

Don't fall for the B.S. If BO is elected NJ owners will not even notice a tax increase if there is one. Most people that wealthy pay there taxes based on capital gains.

The ones who will notice are the people who make over 250k in salary. That would probably include several senior guys at NJ.

Keep thinking that. NJAs largest single customer/owner is marquis and the largest volume purchase in 2008 is the lowest priced ultra/encore. Increased taxes (federal, state, social, medicare) will have a profound effect on luxury spending under a democrat state.
Also, did you know that California recently instituted a hefty fractional per use tax on each take off and landing? Most frac owners don't yet know about it, but they soon will. Once successful, guess which other states will realize they are missing out on "lost revenue?" Simply put, these liberal taxes will quickly limit the growth of the private jet travel industry.

Freakin' amazing! Always talk of taxes, more taxes, never any spending cuts!

We are soooooooooo hosed!!!!

BOHICA

The latest out of the big guys mouth in Rec this week. "We will hire as necessary for '09"...no number given. Lots of talk about watching the economy, so take that for what it's worth. Retirement is less than 2% so there is no movement at this time.

I don't see much hiring in this business. Economic growth is non existent right now. It will take quite sometime before we reach a bottom and begin another upswing and hiring again moves forward
