Plus a new seniority list.

*Saab* FO & Captain numbers are going up in all bases.
*CRJ* Numbers going down
*Avro* MEM is gone. MSP & DTW are staying the same.

Does this mean a new furlough notice is on the way?

Maybe. I guess so, because the "Present Staffing" total is 701 and the "Proposed" is 657. That a difference of 44 pilots. Unless attrition takes care of it?

Mesaba is always getting screwed. The pilot group over there has some serious kahoonas. You were finally "getting yours" about a year ago and then, boom, the holdings company comes out and slips ya the big one, brokeback style. That's just not right!

So by my lousy math that is about 150 furloughed and another 100 have quit since January (based on the present number of 700 and the seniority list just before the "crash" of 952. And of that 150 furloughed I am guessing at least half have given up waiting this out and won't take a recall if offered.

sponge bob can kiss off. Just remember they can issue these twenty times a days and retract them just as many. It's propoganda. Who cares and if it is true, further proof these guys can't manage and the place will burn down on its b/c of them not us. Other companies pay just about the same as us. We are not the problem.... it's the overpaid "middle managers" sent from NWA that kill the profits.

If this company spent 1/8 the money on customer service, that they do on union busting we would be the #1 regional in the states. Gehto airplanes, dirty, smelly, pink!!!! We fly in the Midwest not the Sahara.
Then again what do I know I'm a overpaid Airline Pilot. $30,0000 wow I'm rollin in it.

I just spoke with Kim in crew planning. She said there will be no furlough notices until late July or early August.

I wonder if they will get a LOT of voluntary furloughs with all the upset people around Mesaba.

On a side note, I just looked up the timing of the last furlough. The voluntary notice was posted on 3 Oct 05, with furloughs starting 9 Jan 06. That was exactly 14 weeks.

There were a bunch of guys that saw themselves displaced to an undesireable place when the notice was final that then started scrambling to take a voluntary furlough. My guess is that will happen again. I know a couple guys that decided unemployment was better than junior MEM Saab FO.

Can you get unemployment bennefits if you take a voluntary?

depends on the state you were filing in but usually yes... as long as the company doesn't contest the claim.

MN. I've been reading about unemployment bennefits and I can't find anywhere that you can get unemployment by a "voluntary" severence.
Here's one example that they list as a reason to NOT get unemployment: Refused a job or failed to apply for a suitable job without "good cause" - For refusing work that was suitable for you based on your work history, training, skills, ability, the pay scale in the local labor market, the distance to the job, and how long you have been out of work.
I wonder if they would consider me refusing to commute to sit reserve elsewhere a reason to refuse unemployment bennefits.

If I get displaced out of my domocile (where I live), have to pay the extra commuting expenses involved, and potentially take a pay cut, unemployment will definetely pay more. And that's at 2-3 year FO pay! Sad.

Man Cuban I love your Rating's..etc!

Hey Cuban, I know exactly what you're saying. I'm looking at the possiblility of enough folks senior to me quitting that I might face the worst possible outcome: NOT being furloughed and being stuck with commuting to MEM for SAAB FO reserve. I think that a good argument could be made that in fact, that is not a suitable job, due to the location. It would be worth calling up the MN UE folks and getting their opinion.

I have a buddy that took a voluntary in MI and the state didn't mess with him, because he was layed off, not seperated. YMMV.

i heard no you cannot...but i am not sure minnesota....who knows..does unemployment pay well?

You absolutely CAN recieve unemployment bennies. If you would not have volunteered, another would have been layed off in your place. Dont make a big deal about it - your position is being eliminated as a result of workforce reduction. Nothing more, nothing less. Voluntary is simply something to circumvent the union senority list.

If 50 pilots are being eliminated either way, why would the unemployment office care what their XJ senority number was?

The NWA furloughs in question appear to be a one year defined term. At XJ, the end is nowhere in sight.

I'm simply relaying the info I recieved directly from XJ HR when I was furloughed. I never used the benefits, however.

I don't know about MN, but in Michigan it's about $1450/month. That's about what you'll make on reserve as an FO. Sad.

holy wow....too bad you cannot work a part time job to augment that money. and we get to keep our flight bennies? can you say trip to europe....on the cheap......

You get nonrev, not jumpseat for 30 days then an additional 60 for new job purposes only. And I'm sure you are already aware how useless NWA travel bennies are. All must be coordinated through pass bureau not the phone system.

Im am proud of you guys at mesaba. Talk about not selling out, and being the only pilot group that said no more to this crap. Good luck guys

RIP in Memphis AVRO...you will be missed.
Good times in the humid brine.

No hyperbole here, just sadness. The end of a good thing. RIP.
