Fine, I'm gone. If I'm going to have to deal with people (and I use the term loosely) like you, then I don't think aviation is right for me.

I just noticed that Jay is a gate agent. I pity the crews that get to deal with him now that he realizes pilots are scum. Ever delay will now be attributed to the crew. No, wait, it's already that way, Oh well.

Reel me in...

All quotes from Jay
there are low-time flying jobs out there.

Name one. Not working a gate that's for sure.

No, I don't think I can just walk on to an airline job with a Comm. license and 80 hours of flight time,

You might need just a little more time to get your commercial bud. But who reads those FAR's anyway.

P.S. I don't believe in porn, or anything else that degrades women.

I think you are a woman.

Fine, I'm gone. If I'm going to have to deal with people (and I use the term loosely) like you, then I don't think aviation is right for me.

So you're gonna quit your job b/c of a few posts on the net???:p

Wrightavia, you don't wanna know... ;) :p :D

g'day!

You guys are unbelievable. I can understand and agree about your points with the PFTing and all, but I think the way some of you responded degrades your "profession" more then Jay has. I mean come on he is just considering a future job as a pilot and maybe doesn't understand some of the political and economical principals that make him think the way he does. So does that deserve the welcome he received? Anyways Jay continue to follow your dreams whatever they may be and don't worry about some of the bitter pilots on here that can only find stimulation from making fun of or degrading another person.
-Gary-

And Welcome to the board!

BTW--I'll bet a lot of these "NO PFTERS" didn't have a clue about it when they were 19 and probably thought the same way you do.

Jay, you're being cursed, insulted, and degraded, because you have posted attitudes that insult and degrade OUR PROFESSION. You obviously don't understand that it is people like you, who are willing to fly for free (editorial on my part, not necessicarily intended to be a statement of your exact postition), that bring down working conditions and wages for the rest of us. Of course if you are just flaming, you already know this. If not, you need to think about the longterm consequences of flying for love, not money.

If you just love to fly, then get your CPA and buy yourself a 172. Don't drag the rest of us down with your romanticism.

I think the real issue here is the fact that you fear competing with people who will work cheaper than you. It's called "competition", and you'd better get used to it. Welcome to reality.

secks- There is a difference between competition and whoring yourself out for hours or whatever excuse you want to use.

Talked to a friend of mine that is a chief Pilot at a small charter company. He says he has a stack of resumes from guys that will pay for the inititial ride just to get a job with him. (something I think the employer should pay if they want you.)

Jay some of the reasons why these posts went so negative so quickly is because there has been debates about this for years. People on this board allready "know" each other. It's kind of like a whacked out community. I've met a couple of pilots on the road that were on this board that recoginized my bag.

Of course when I was 19 i didn't understand the economics of it. Although when I got my first job I got a real quick lesson in it. It was a good thing my first boss was a great guy who took the time to teach me a bout the world of flying.

I love this board because it is great community of pilots, with great stories and has a wealth of information. One board topic you have to read from start to finish is the YGBSM...(You've Got To Be Spoofing Me)! topic. and I try to stay away from the PFT threads

I always thought it meant "You gotta be $hittin me!

Jay;

Don't listen to all these a$$holes. United's minimums are still only 350 hours of toal time. Apply as soon as you get there. They will evaluate your application on it's own merit.
That's what I did.....Oh, bad example...

I think jay is gone.
Dont worry Alaskan is here and he is almost as uneducated as Jay.

Correction, it is called "whoring". It is also the main reason there is a race to the bottom for pay and work rules in this industry.
