New Chief Pilot for ASA

Honestly, I have talked to Brad, and if this does not work for him I would not be surprised to see him leave aviation. He was getting burnt out on his previous job.
Fred is a great guy, and was an awesome CP. I am sure that he is just the guy the need in the SIMS. If he can't teach the new hires than no one can.

Of course he looks stressed out. I would bet a goodly percentage saved their isssues for when Fred or Bob were around. They got a bigger dose of cr@p just because they had/have some empathy for line-pilots. If you had half a brain, were you going to take your problem to CC or KR (if you could avoid it)?

I thought Fred's grumpiness was part of his charm, but then again, I am well on my way to crumudgeonhood also.

Thank you Fred, for everything you did to make the pilot's lot a little better! You will be sorely missed!

Don't mistake grumpy for busy. Kind of like getting interrupted in the middle of a brief, or checklist. Now imagine eight years of constant abnormal checklists with constant interruptions (mostly about silly stuff).

First impressions are hard to overcome... The first time I saw this dweeb, he was literally 2 inches away from a higher-up's tail-end with his nose. He was trailing this guy up and down the hall-saying "yes, sir, mr _____ sir," over and over....
Literally two minutes later, he was trailing another guy down a nearby hall way saying "yes sir, mr. _____, sir...." In both cases, I was shocked at the obvious, unabashed groveling I was witnessing..... I wondered if he actually did this all day long.

Now-given that was years ago, but I generally find people who do that sort of crap in public to be untrustworthy....and of low moral an ethical character. Maybe he is a prince, but I would find that surprising, after having seen such things

Also-has anyone ever heard "B.S." been referred to by anyone else here as a friend? I mean, that is a bit unusual, isn't it? Everyone here has a few people who include them on their "friend" or "buddy" list, but this guy? I have never heard him referred to by anyone as being either.

B.S. is a CP? This shouldn't be a shock to those who truly know him. He's friendly, but I can't think of any other person who drinks more kool-aid. He hid in the GO for years, so this is probably his move to accelerate his corporate climb. His goal is to be ASA's CEO. It's just one more thing on the resume. Expect ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT and getting offered kool-aid for refreshments. Sorry to hear this........

1. SH will take over CT's position. CT retires.
2. LS will take over SH old position.
3. LS will replace all current, except one, ASST CPs and CPs and make the, except one, the new CP.

On another subject, I really like Brad. In my experience with Brad, he's always been forthcoming and I think he can unravel (hopefully a lot) all the crap Nelson took away from the pilot group (especially the Chief Pilots authority to do anything!). Brad's a good guy with a positive attitude and very smart. Let's give him a chance. Maybe, perhaps maybe, this could be a move that ASA is becoming somewhat, sort of, less micro-managerial? Okay, probably not, but let's see what happens anyways.

I'll go on record saying nothing but good things about BS (except that I love his initials). When I came back from my longer than planned vacation, it was BS (heh heh, I got to say it again) who personally spent a week with me 1 on 1 for my modified welcome back/company indoc training. I found him to be extremely helpful, fun to hang out with, and truly cared about helping me out.

I think we are lucky to have him as a chief pilot, and I have high expectations that all of you will agree once you've had a chance to deal with him. Let's give BS (heh heh) a chance.

That being said........BS if you do become a schmuck I will personally kick you Auburn A$$.

No to all the above questions. I'm willing to give the man a chance, but obviously most have had different experiences with him. We'll see very shortly. Besides, I only deal with BD and RC myself. But I'll try BS too.

Fred Lambert is a model for what Chief Pilots should be. I am very fortunate to work alongside several that are just like him. When I had any issue that needed input or resolution through CP office channels, I dealt with Fred and Fred only. If something needed fixing or tweaking, I believe Fred Lambert was and still is the most capable of getting the job done. Someone needs to set up a little fund and donate, including myself, and send Fred on a killer trip or buy him a cool toy. Tell me where to send the dough. His contribution to the pilot group in the last 6 years made ASA a lot more tolerable.

I think you're going to be 100% right on this one. My own "crystal ball" has LS moving into SH's spot, with SH's blessing. I know that both of them would like to replace the CPs.

All of the people saying "Give him a chance", this is why ASA is where it is now. Now matter how much crap is heaped upon us, we keep opening the door for more. Instead, why aren't you saying "Hey, how come some dude from the G.O. who has less line experience than 3/4 of our pilot group is now going to be a CP?" or "Why is the company installing a management person into a line pilot support position without posting an opening for the position first?"

As I said when I started this thread, BS is a nice guy, but that has nothing to do with his qualifications for the position. I've been behind closed doors with him at the G.O. and I can promise you, he is no friend of the line pilot(nor is LS for that matter). It was abundantly clear to me that both BS and LS think they're much smarter and professional than the rest of us.
