I do think someone needs to come up with some competition for the Cirrus SR-22. That plane is a monster.

I'd take a new 182 or 206 over a new sr22 any day of the week.

Not a 182, maybe a 206 (i have never flown the 206). The SR22 outperforms the 182 pretty well and is way more comfortable.

I don't think you can put four people and luggage with full tanks in a Cirrus. It all depends on mission profiles.

Yep - if you need a hauler, a 206 or 182 is the way to go. But if 3 and some bags is your profile, the SR-22 is pretty awesome. It's also a lot more comfortable inside.

Although I wish you could get the Cirrus without the parachute. The extra useful load would be nice.

That's my dream plane, only if it could carry more it would be perfect!

Lancair IV/IV-P can unleash some stank on 'em too. Some of the records set by Dave Morss and others are pretty impressive. Off the top of my head a IO-550 powered IV made it from Los Angeles to Lakeland, FL in 6hrs 3sec. It was also the first non-warbird to qualify for the unlimited class at Reno.
