Really? Seems the Southwest guys that have given me rides up front hit VNAV shortly after T/O without batting an eyelash.

That was me. I actually hit it by mistake. I was going for Vertical Speed but my hands were still shaking from the A/T takeoff. Dang thing gots a mind of it's own......
 
Yeah, great, another 60's design with a crappy, uncomfortable cockpit, and an uncomfortable cabin -- with groovy engines strapped on. Boeing must be undercutting Airbus for a change.

exactly - it's what happens when MBA bean counters run companies. Guys like Bill Boeing and Jack Northrop are rolling over in their graves.
 
A quiet cockpit, windowshades and maybe a re-designed overhead panel is what I'd like to see in the new 737.
 
And a side-stick and tray table. I mean, this is the 21st Century, isn't it?
 
yeah; i've only jumpseated on a 737 but it looks to me like they could get rid of half the junk on that overhead...why do y'all still need a cabin pressure gauge?
