I guess this is going to take the place of the EWR - SFO transcons we're bailing on as of today. Plenty of folks looking to go from New York to the F state.

ATA also just announced PIE-SJU three times a week starting in the summer. Weird. Hopefully they will advertise this time.

I think Gordo must be gloating about this. The press was riding his @ss about this service and how the EWR hub would soon be destroyed by the LCC's. Nothing like placating Gordo's gigantic ego.

Yeah, Bethune had the vision to add something like 10 daily flights from EWR to the bay area as soon as we started the service. Coupled with ATA's expectation that potential customers would find us with little or no advertising in the market pretty much doomed us to failure. Of all the new routes we had started up in the past couple of years, this one had the most potential and failed the worst. I had several times where I flew a full aircraft from MDW to EWR, then turned the beast over to another crew, only for them to take forty people to SFO.

PIE has been pretty good to us since we started targeting it, and I think the northeast and PR service ought to be fairly successful.
