Been flying at the Tranny for some time now. In my opinion this is a horrible move. One so bad that its making me wonder what the heck those guys are doing in Orlando. Let's see what else we could have announced. St. Louis, San Anton, San Diego, Portland, Pheonix. You get my point! Oh, and I thought we needed an east/west flow with some business travelers. I guess we will just keep selling those crap fares to florida so we can break even for the rest of my friggin career.

The population of the Hudson Valley is high, with very high travel demand southbound to Fla. during winter (think cold) months. Short stage lengths, high freq., cheap fares- Kinda what FL makes money doing.

Yea, I think I'm going to quit Da Tranny and apply at Delta, hopefully I can fly one of those nice shiny new EMBs I see parked at concourse "B"...........;)

We will be hiring around 100 next Spring, and the MD88 FO in NYC will be the newhire position, most likely.

Bye Bye--General Lee

The Ramada SUCKS. I fly in the ANG there and spend 5-10 nights/ month in hotels around there. There is Hampton Inn and a Courtyard that're pretty good. AEagle, AIrborne and NetJets stay at the Hampton (Free breakfast). There is also a Hilton Garden opening in a few months.

Yes, I know pilots shouldn't be running airlines. But the thing that makes a city work is not just having people depart the area but also have a large demand for people to visit the area. Here is an example:

Hey sweety

Yes dear

Let me take you somewhere and we'll go see all the sights.

Oh the suspense is killing me, where are you going to take me, oh i know we are going to Seattle right.

No Airtran doesn't have service there in the winter baby. Were going to the Hudson Valley

Ok see this will never happen. If I fly a plane to the Hudson Valley with a full load and 50% are using it to go there and visit I will be shocked. Stupid friggin move. Just another reason we probrably won't get a contract because we will be losing are butts

Heyas,

My $0.02 about SWF...well not Newburg specifically, but the outlands of NY state. Head west or north out of SWF, and you will quickly run into rural New York state... it could double for rural Alabama, Louisiana or West Virginia if it wasn't so cold.

Lots of shuttered up old resorts in the moutains and teeny tiny little burgs with nothing but a stop light (and some didn't even have that, just those blinky things). The only thing I saw of any curiosity was a big field of hippie droppings out that way.

All in all, not one of my favorite places.

Been flying at the Tranny for some time now. In my opinion this is a horrible move. .

I spent today in the union office (training). SWF is a guaranteed revenue city. Craphole? maybe. Money maker? sure thing.

Better yet you can go see my brother do push ups and run up that huge ass hill by the football stadium. Then maybe hell give you the nickel tour of the place.

To add to the discussion, the Hampton and Courtyard are the ONLY fair places to stay in the area. As far as the airport goes it is very well kept (C5 ANG Base) and well taken care of when it snows. Good approaches. Also there is an abundance of adult type places near by, however I have never been. They make the word seedy seem like a good thing. Somewhat bad area.
