Well perhaps it's the season or perhaps it was by design but the days at Netjets are getting very long for crews with legal turns everyday. The 10 hours in 24 rule is being bumped into several times a tour now. I haven't seen this kind of flying since the 2000/2001 season. So if you are planning on coming be prepared to work. No easy days any longer. Oh I almost forgot, don't expect to be home on your last scheduled day. Seems as though they are flying us all day on the last then not getting us home.

Coincidence with the contract being ratified? I think not. I'm pretty damned sure that we left a lot of $ on the table for the next round of talks. Just look at the numbers being hired. Doesn't look like a broken business plan to me.

What kind of $$ do you see as grievance? I read months ago of a NJ guy receiving close $3k in grievance pay in January alone. With that kind of $$ coming in I would think one could add $10k to the starting pay as a new hire?.?.?

Baja.

Legal turns everyday? Not me. I do one 10 hour turn and then at least 12 off the next day as a general rule. Now if they have me on duty at the hotel I would take another 10 off, but not out on the road humping.

The question is not whether or not I will crash or have an incident flying that long on that amount of rest...it is the fact that the chances of that happening go from somewhere around 1 in a million to 1 in 500,000....that is a huge degregation of safety that I don't accept.

A pilot nodding off? Were done. Missing some radio calls? Were done. Forget to program the landing numbers etc? Were done.

But the fact that we are busy is good news. Last week 30+ hours in the week...solid but not crazy. This week haven't done much.

When I look at NJ pay it is presented in an annual amount. Do you all have trip and duty rigs to allow for considerably more pay when you are flying those 9 and 10 hour days?

I am hoping for a chance with NJ in the future, but getting about 600 hours a year makes it a slow go.

I didn't say I was doing legal turns everyday. What I meant is we are "scheduled" for legal turns everyday.

Overtime comes after 12 hours of duty time. So in theory you could get 2 hours everday. about $140 a day in my case.

13 hours of OT on the tour I just finished. 29 hours (flight time) on the first 4 days alone. But I suppose I would rather be flying than rotting around a FBO all day (no wait I did that in HPN this tour too).

You work hard at NetJets, but under the new contract you can make quite a lot in overtime.

Last tour:

Day 1 - early start (06:15) 14 hour day $500
(airline only, which included a first class ticket on a UA 777..nice)
Day 2 - Public Holiday $750
Day 4 - 13 hour day $ 70
Day 6 - 14 hour day $140
Day 7 - 1 Volunter extended day $750
Day 8 - company could not get me home by midnight so ...
1 extended day $750
12 hours of overtime $840

Almost 4 grand in overtime ... nice. Now I'm a 5 year captain and this tour was far from typical, but it does show what O/T can be earned under the new contract. Thanks SU!

Arrived home 10 am day 9.

 Anyone here fly the Falcon 2000? I was wondering as I am scheduled for an April 3 class and I am interested in the QOL. I am comming from the 121 scheduled world...forgive me, please.

From what I have read I am going to enjoy the change. You all seem like a great pilot group.

See you all soon!

Hey cappy it's a 2000:) don't want to call it a 200 around all of those ateamers youll be paired with LOL

QOL in the falcon? hmm you have a FA. so you never need leave the cockpit. Pretty good since your pay will suck for a while.

ozpilot, I assume that 3800 bucks is in addition to the listed salary on airlinepilotcentral.com? If so, you earn more in bonus and ot alone than I earn for my salary the whole month on the 727.

How much PIC time does one need to have a chance at NJ. I will never get any PIC time where I'm at now.

LOL... I guess everything's a matter of perspective. I'm waiting for an interview, and if I get it, first-year pay will be a $10,000 raise for me!

I can't believe I called it the Falcon 200. I corrected it.

Thanks for your replies. I look forward to working with you.

Yep thats in addition to the regular salary.

As far as PIC time is required, NJA and NJI minimums are listed here:

http://www.netjets.com/News and Info/careers_pilots.asp

I don't see any requirement for PIC time, but of course it would not hurt.

If you are really interested, I would apply as soon as you have the minimums and update with the company every couple of months until you get the call.

Remember that competitive time is a function of supply and demand. Considering that this year we're projected to hire 450+ pilots I would get that application in ASAP!

Good Luck!

As a former 1900 pilot, I fully understand your pain. Hope you get the interview soon. This place is a worlds away from a typical 1900 regional operation.

If you have questions about NetJets that I might be able to help with, you can send me a PM.

Now that's what I am talking about! Show Me The Money!!!!
Eventhough that's not a normal tour, it's nice to have a couple of those a year I bet!

Hey OZ, how often do you have these type of tours?

Take away the extended days.

The OT is normal though and its a normal tour for me.

How much OT do you guys average per week?

I'm a 1st year FNG at NetJets. Here are my numbers for year to date through todays pay day on FO pay:

Gross salary: 7,800
OT & Holiday pay: 1200

Now I'm a lazy sack and don't extend so the above pay is fairly representative of what you could expect at NJ first year.

So if that's through Feb., you are on par to make about 54k for the year. Not too shabby for a 1st FO. Hell that would be almost a 20K pay raise for me!

Lots and lots of flying! Very little sitting.

We have a saying at NetJets.

If you really want to fly, come to NetJets, we can cure you.

;)

Second year capt pay, just figured out if I stay on this average of extended days, holiday pay, and overtime I will gross about 95K. Not to bad since I am scheduled to make just under 62K.

A few more comments on hourly overtime at Netjets ..

On a normal day overtime starts after 12 hours, but does not extend beyond 14. Is it worth it to push the day to 12 hours just to get 1, or maybe 2 hours of overtime? No. Aviation is the only field I know where you have to work a day and a HALF before you earn overtime ...

Exceptions being first and last day of the tour.

On the first day - If you are required to report before 8am you receive overtime for all hours prior to 8 am and after NINE hours of duty. So if the company wants you to show at 5am and has you scheduled for a 12 hour day, you would receive overtime for 3 hours (5 to 8) and 3 hours (9 to 12). If your a five year captain thats 6 hours at $70 per hour ...

Now your last day. The company is required to get you home before midnight and within the limits of a 14 hour day. If they cannot, you have the option of staying on duty until they can get you home. (Plus - you earn overtime, minus - you have to buy your own hotel room)

There are two advantages here. First the company has a strong incentive to get you home as early as possible the next day because they are paying you overtime for every hour that they dont. Secondly they are paying you overtime for every hour that they don't ....

In addition they also pay 1 extended day (or two if you can convince them that your last day was unrealistically scheduled).

I hope that all makes sense.

I've been at NJA just under a year and for 2006 under the reserve system I'm doing even better than flywest so far. Here's the numbers since Jan. 1st up to my 3-3 pay statement:

Regular Pay: $8901
OT & Holiday: $1732

That's averaging 19% on top of regular pay. Flywest is averaging 15%.
I've worked 2 Holidays so far this year.
Now for 2005 on the old 17 day schedule I only averaged 10% but I worked very few holidays.

I am at 50% over base. But I extended 5 days. an worked 4 holidays

I should have mentioned I've had no extended days at all, not even an after midnight arrival in the 9 or so months since I started IOE. This is probably a bit unusual.

For those checking out the NJA pay, I think 10% is a very conservative estimate for what you'll make over the base pay. I'm at 19% so far this year and I've bid my "H" days in April in such a way that I should fly both Good Friday and Easter Sunday, that'll add another $675 (2nd yr pay).

Thanks to all for the detailed pay information!! It certainly helps all of us in the process of trying to join the team and we appreciate it!

Any info greatly appreciated...

Hello,
Sorry to go off-topic on ya'll but...

I am thinking of applying to NJ and would like some info regarding starting pay, initial working conditions, schedules, and the like. Any PM's addressing those topics or advise on searches will be hugely beneficial.
WE are going to have our first child in Aug and would like to make the move now if I'm going to jump. Looking for that last job, if you know what I mean...thanx in advance!
