for one....I had no trouble with the sim.....I thought it handled like a lear...

second, caravan drivers, I feel your pain.......try TOL-ELP in a van.....THAT SUCKED......Ill never fly a 208 again unless it's south of JAX. It's a death trap in the ice

Time to resuscitate this thread. Has anyone here done a re-sim at NJA lately - or ever for that matter? My update form is in and now it's time to wait. I was told by Derinda I would only have to do the Sim and not the HR - I'm just curious what to expect for the visit to Ohio.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Baja.

Just to hijack your thread, I'm in the same but backwards boat. I passed the sim with flying colors but didn't clear the HR interview. Derinda's been very helpfull, telling me what the interviews found deficient and what I need to work on when I come back in 6 months. Have you spoken to her since the interview? She may be able to tell you what went wrong so you can practice for next time. I would also like to know how many people went back for a second try and what the outcome was.

When I flew the sim during the interview, got to 200' and called for full flaps (as it were and maybe it's still that way) and as soon as that happened, I crashed. Mmmmm, that was embarrassing and couldnt figure out what happened. Instructor and sim partner blew it off, but you know they were rolling their eyes. Sim partner flies the sim, 200' comes along, he calls for full flaps and guess what? He bit it in too!!! I was so excited and happy that he crashed too because he was wondering what the hell I was doing over there. Nobody including the sim instructor could figure it out. We were both pretty red faced and heads down when we rolled outta that thing. Long story short, they had er set for tail icing and inop boots and with full flaps, it dont work out too well that way.....as we learned.

I have two acquaintances who failed the sim during the interview process. Both were offered the opportunity to return in 6 months. One of them ended up finding a job elsewhere while the second one returned, did the sim, and got the job.

I am not an NJ pilot, so no self-interest here. I think that says a lot about the company, that they would let you "redo" the sim portion. As previously noted, everyone has a bad day at some point.

Actually when I did the interview last April, we were briefed at one dot.....gear down, glideslope intercept.....full flaps.

Personally, I thought the simulator was an unstable piece of junk. However, it did accomplish the mission of determining whether your instrument scan was up to snuff or not.

Maybe they're doing single-engine ILS now. I've always found our full-flaps-at-the-last-second SE ILS procedure to be rather stupid.
