what about the 18-19 day schedules, can those be eliminated? Or are those also locked into the contract?
Contract....

And ... the company insisted on it and made it like THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA ...

"You can check in anytime you like but you can never leave...."

Only 10% or those on that schedule can leave that schedule if they don't like it every 4 months. So it would take 40 months to empty it out by the CBA.

Fancy this, I get a call from a NJ pilot. Wants to know if USA Jet is hiring, heck they have 45 pilots on lay off and not even involved in anything but flying anymore. He said a letter was coming out in the 10 days announcing up to 1000 pilot lay offs.

The way the 10% is applied (see the interpretive transcripts), if they elected to do so, all pilots on the 18-day schedule could vacate in 4 bid periods (16 months). I do not expect that will happen.

I think you need to tell your friend to lay off the sauce. While we all agree it is possible that a furlough may still occur to suggest to 1000 of us might be out of work is ludicrous. The consensus seems to be 200-300 if it happens. NJA would be unable to keep up with demand with 1000 fewer pilots.

I got a call too, that said they were hiring 100 pilots.

Give me a break, even if there is a furlough it won't be that many.

Yeah, correct... I also heard Michael jackson is going to bring peace to the Middle East.. I think I heard that from the same NJ pilot...

It's getting harder and harder to come to flightinfo and chat...... honestly, I think we will furlough some before the reccession is over, but if you junior NJ guys read s**t like " NJ furloughing up to 1000 pilots" and believe it, you will drive yourself crazy.

If I was fairly junior at NJ, I don't think I'd come to flightinfo anymore...

1000 pilots huh? That's like a 3rd of the pilots at NJA, isn't it? Its funny how people get on these forums and talk so much SH$t.

Could there be a furlough? Sure. I question the "sources" who always seem to have an inside man, but don't even work at the company.

Keep in mind there's better things to do with your time then to come on FI and develop an anxiety disorder because some idiot posted a thread.

WOW!! What some people will write.

Yeah and I heard USA Jet is going to be listed as a major by the DOT this quarter.

Go fly some more Microsoft sim too.

I love Flightinfo! This site is even funnier that The Onion. Almost as creditable as well.

you guys can't stand the truth

you guys can't stand the truth

Truth? One of these is the truth. You decide which one.

1. You made this whole thing up.

2. Your friend at NetJets is the most ill informed pilot among our group.

Mr. Santulli, Mr. Christiansen and our Union leadership have all jointly talked about over staffing issues and the things that are being worked on to mitigate any involuntary reduction in the pilot force. I do expect a letter in the next 10 days, but instead of "announcing up to 1000 pilot lay offs" it will outline what has been agreed upon by our union and management to preclude any reductions.

So, Pilotyip, either tell your friend to pick the phone and call a NJASAP leader or quit it with the flame bait.

It may mean we accidently hired a retard who has no clue about whats going on..or he made the whole thing up..either way.. YIP flighs for USA Jet, who cares what he thinks or says..JMO

For the record I'm not against people taking substandard jobs if the situation presents itself...But I've seen YIP on here for years. He seems to always find the bottom feeder jobs.

Reality

For years USA Jet was the direct pipe line to NJ, in fact NJ used to come to YIP and hold job fairs in the local hotel. NJ must have liked what I had prepared for them. I think the number is the 20 pilots range, I hired now work for NJ. I am still freinds with many, few have anything bad to say about the training they got an USA Jet that allowed them to move on. In fact I got feedback some were disappointed they expected NJ training to be superior to JUS, but it wasn't. This is not flame bait, but reality.

What a bunch of crap. 1000 pilots??? Seriously??? You actually believed this???

In 10 days you will know if you have an honest pilot that you can hire or a liar that you dont want to hire.

whats in 10 days?

Yip if you're proven wrong in ten days will you finally admit that you're gullible and full of crap?

I retract my previous post about YIP and him working at USA Jet.. I admit I know nothing about the company and have never met anyone who worked for them..But his post is borderline the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on here in the last 9 yrs or so...

the whole "we got a guy from NJA asking about employment here cause of 1000 furloughs in 10 days" is so f--king absurd..

First, if this guy is worried about being furloughed then he must be a junior FO (like myself)... So say between 0-3 years of seniority...How the hell would he have some top secret intel, that NOBODY at Netjets knows about!!! Really fu--ing ridiculuous!!!!

Second, I'm fairly positve that if NJ had to furlough 1000 pilots, our union would have given us some sort of heads-up.. A few hundred is one thing, but a 1/3rd of our list.. Come on!!!

Third, if we needed to furlough 1000 pilots I don't think management would be worried about LOA's and early out packages.. We would be hemoraging $$$ so bad that some letter 10 days from now would be a mute point...

On Apr. 20th, management and our union will introduce a voluntary system that will help NJ with the current economy... We are not 100% certain what all the details are yet, but we do have an idea. This was a 100% joint effort from NJASAP and NJ managment. Total co-operation from both sides is how I have had it described to me by e-mails from both sides...

Commutair was also a direct pipeline to NJ also..It probably had something to do with handflying approaches in the NE, and also that 90% of the guys there were genuinely great guys.. I don't hear from any one there that knows a guy who heard of 1000 furloughs..Can we end YIP's contribution to this thread now.....

Thats probably the first time anybody every called USAjet that was already employed looking for a job.

Of course PilotYip flew a Falcon to the middleast for a couple of hundred bucks.....

So think of the source.

Aggggghhhh!

It's a fricken "moot" point!!!! We would have also accepted a "moo" point, but only with an appropriate reference to friends.

And while you're at it: TOO, TWO and TO have different frickin meanings too!!

Oh, and Commute Air was NOT a pipeline to NetJets. Maybe lots of guys got hired on "back in the day". But so did lots of guys form lots of companies. There was no "pipe line" that funneled pilots between the two companies.

Oh yeah, and it's hemorrhaging, try a spell check.

Reality is the training isnt done by NJ, its done by flight safety, which everyone knows is not very good. My former regional had better training. But i didnt come here because i heard they had great training.
